Stopped by @murchiestea to grab a croissant this morning and saw these cakes available by the slice as well, a rarity since they are usually just sold as whole cakes. We loved the Chocolate Mousse Truffle when we first had it in August so I was thinking we should order that for my birthday coming up. Hubby had suggested we try something else though so I had agreed to get the Frenzie. Today we got our curiosity satisfied and ordered the Murchies Gateau and Frenzie slices. I didn’t really like the thick foam-like(?) texture of the Gateau mousse or the flourless chocolate cake part. The mousse in the Frenzie cake was fluffier and lighter, but the soft sponge needed more texture and the raspberry surprisingly detracted from the rest of the cake. So, we will either stick to the Mousse Truffle or try their other fruit or cheese cakes for my birthday. Though perhaps it might be better to skip the birthday cake entirely given the cake calories consumed before 11am today!

This is some progress with my scoliosis client as of late. I have to admit, there are so many variables to account for which makes this one of my most difficult cases I've ever taken on. Every bit of progress seems to bring out more questions to find the answers to. Props to those FP practitioners who have worked so hard to get the results they get. This is nothing but determination we at @functionalpatterns need to tackle these kinds of problems.
Here is her story: "I was diagnosed with scoliosis in Grade 9 or 10. The doctor who diagnosed said not to do anything, no surgery or brace since I "only" had 28 degree curve in my lumbar spine. Just wait and see. If it was over 30 degrees he would have recommended surgery or other treatment. Instead I tried chiropractic, massage, osteopathy, yoga for scioliosis, physiotherapy. I saw some benefits but not really any change in the scoliosis which was what i wanted. Last year, had another x-ray which showed my curve had deteriorated to 32 degrees. Mostly everyone told me scoliosis was something I just had to live with the rest of my life. But I knew there was something out there that could change my spine so I kept looking." We still have so much work to do as I'm constantly trying to improve my own competence in using the concepts I've learned from Functional Patterns to change her structural scoliosis. I am definitely not satisfied with these results.
Any insight or advice from my fellow FP practitioners is greatly appreciated. Thank you to @fp.benjamin for the assistance in tackling this.

On Tuesday, at a catered-by-me Packed Lunch, one half of Circa Consulting visited The Watershed to discuss how businesses can play active roles in reconciliation with First Nations, and how Circa decided that their own partnership was an embodiment of reconciliation. Circa is new and are asking for the wider community to email them with questions so they can know where to situate themselves in this important work. You can find them at circaconsulting.ca.
I’ve been meaning to try the cakes @ruthanddean but I wanted to have either their earl grey cake or salted caramel so I had to wait for 1) their Instagram post saying they have either cake available by the slice 2) time for the 40 min walk during the morning before work. This colorfully designed cake is their Vanilla Salted Caramel, which was yesterday’s cake of the day. Though it was more dense than I prefer, I’m happy to say it tasted similar to the cake we had for our vow renewal in Vancouver earlier this March, made by my cousin @crissascakecorner . So it brought back happy memories :) .
On another note I now see that their cake by the slice today is the Earl Grey. Very tempting to compare but since I do like fluffier textured sponge, I will wait a while when it is available again.
Finally, a note on service. I have dropped by to check out the goodies here two times before. And like today, the service seems more civil than friendly. .
