#DYK Many animal diseases carried by ticks or insects can also be passed on to humans, such as African sleeping sickness. By protecting animals with parasitides or vaccinations, veterinarians like Dr. Singh here are also protecting people.
Future surgeons in the making: Ciara, Peter, Courtney, and Tasmin learn how to scrub in, gown up, glove in and set up a sterile surgical table in OVC’s asepsis lab for their Principles of Surgery phase 2 class.
Arnie is a senior boy who recieved some accupuncture yesterday by our vet James.
Acupuncture involves placing very fine needles into specific points to inhibit pain transmission via nervous pathways and to stimulate release of pain relieving chemicals, including endorphins, in the brain and spinal cord.
Arnie tolerated this very well, especially when he was given lots of dreamies!
🎀Mammary Cancer Awareness🎀
Early detection of abnormal lumps on your pet and bringing them into us for an exam is the best way to get ahead of the game. This is especially important for dogs if they are unspayed, was known to have puppies, or was spayed in adulthood.
There are five sets of mammary glands. They should be soft especially towards the rear legs. There should be no firm lumps, if a lump is detected please come see us at once.
Checking for these lumps every so often and coming in routinely for yearly exams can help in prevention of mammary gland cancer. Always make sure to call us if you have detected a lump so we can take a look and determine the best care for you pet. Please give us a call with any questions you may have and we'll be happy to assist you 🎀🐶🐱🐇🦎🐭🦔 ☎️407-644-2676
Here's a picture dump from the vet office. I had 2 videos I wanted to post too but Instagram won't let me upload them. On the first slide is Sam who is a nice cat, who I found out also has a temper. Recently he bit me when I tried moving him to a new cage (& he's never done that before). Next is Ali who is extremely sweet but shy and insists on always being under a blanket. After that is Ryan and Quin playing with my shoe laces. The itty bitty kits again after I ripped up some paper towel for them to play with. The 5th slide is an pug and almost chihuahua-ish duo. After that is some bosties and lastly a mountain dog. #animallover#volunteer#volunteering#volunteerwork#vet#vethospital#vetclinic#veterinaryclinic#veterinaryhospital
This beautiful girl had surgery yesterday. Tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO or the dog version of ACL surgery). .
A month or so ago, Heidi tore her back right cruciate ligament by running around in the yard. After looking at multiple options and weighing the pros and cons, I decided to go to KSU Vet Hospital for the surgery.
While it was a 2 hour drive away, their equipment is state of the art and they did it for a fraction of the cost of any local vet. Downside, we had to wait about a month to get in.
Alas, we're home today. Surgery went great and she's already putting a little weight on that foot. It'll be a slow 8 weeks of recovery having to keep her contained and prevent her from running. .
John Wayne and I are glad she's home and doing well! We missed her for those couple days.
Today for Staff Appreciation Week we are highlighting our Office Manager, Emily, and Customer Service Representative, Paula! On the left we have Emily, who has been at TLC for 9 years and enjoys working with the staff as well as all of our great clients. Having 15+ years in healthcare management, her knowledge and expertise keeps our clinic running smoothly, (not to mention her contagious laugh)! On the right we have Paula, whose favorite breed is rescue. She loves working with the crew at TLC and calls us her "extended family." Working with animals makes her happy, and is a big reason why she always has a smile on her face! These two incredible ladies work hard to make sure every client feels welcome the minute they walk through our door. Thank you both for all that you do! :) #tlcveterinaryhospital#veterinarymedicine#vetmed#customerservice#veterinaryhospital#techweek
