Björk is just a legend in the real world. She's unbelievable and incredibly talented.
That's why I chose one of her best albums and probably her most iconic look and made a drawing.
Yes, she's naked. I tried to take the sexual aura that Vespertine has, and that sounded to me like "Hey, let's draw her naked". Nudity is natural and, from an artistic point of view, so, so beautiful. Sexuality is so magical and that album just captivates that magic perfectly. I can see a few mistakes I made, but I'm really happy with the results. .
~I love him.~
* Homogenic - Alarm Call *
Looking back on previous projects to reminisce and decompress. Chapter 8 of "Homogenic - The Audiovisual Album" belonged to the album version of Björk's "Alarm Call", which is one of my favorite tracks from the record. This track was actually intended to be entitled "Jacko" as it is a spiritual tribute to Michael Jackson's work.
To this day I have no idea what they were thinking using that dreaded remix for the single edit? The late Mark Bell's beats on the original track which I used here are incomparable, no clue why they used such a wacky, sped-up version for the video. Usually Björk's music video remixes are elevated versions of the album: Big Time Sensuality, Who is It? (Bells), All is Full of Love to name a few. This track was one that wasn't broken.
I digress; this chapter I had original intended a huge array visually. I was going to have a wall clock with some sort of wallpaper or knotty pine behind it, animate in the hour and minute hands separately and twist the clock 360 like you see in the final version. What was I thinking? In the end this was a chapter that needed to be one of the visual pull-backs on the project, animating a looping alarm clock was SO MUCH EASIER!

“The “train of pearls” is a poetic description of ejaculation, with the “ocean” it is shot across probably being her vagina given the reference to him being “inside” her.” “She wakes up again in the night in his arms to find that he is literally still inside of her since they fell asleep during the sex.
Like a cocoon”

Bjork - Cocoon from album “Vespertine”.
#Datura is a genus of nine species of poisonous #vespertine flowering plants belonging to the family #Solanaceae . They are commonly known as daturas, but also known as devil's trumpets, not to be confused with angel's trumpets, its closely related genus #Brugmansia . They are also sometimes called #moonflowers , #jimsonweed , devil's weed, hell's bells, #thornapple , and many more. Its precise and natural distribution is uncertain, owing to its extensive cultivation and naturalization throughout the temperate and tropical regions of the globe. Its distribution within the Americas and North Africa, however, is most likely restricted to the United States, Mexico and Southern Canada in North America, and Tunisia in Africa where the highest species diversity occurs.
All species of Datura are poisonous, especially their seeds and flowers.
* Björk "Innocence" ft. Timbaland *
This might not be my one of my highest viewed videos, but as Björk lyric videos go in my part of town, this has always been a personal favorite! I premiered this officially on Cinco de Mayo of last year, and after having made another chunk of Björk videos, I love this still...and love it true. 😂
Inadvertently "Voltaic", this video is a bright white canvas for this colorful splash painting, Jackson Pollock style. @timbaland was a fool for this beat, 😭 all of his beats are stellar and it's so incredible how he made @bjork a custom production for this project that was quite unlike any of his hip-hop former beats for the BIGGEST artists all around. You know Timbaland even if you don't think you do! 👌
Long story longer, this video would not have been possible without the incredible online tutorials I picked up along the way. Every beat sounds like a gunshot with colorful paint bleeding onto the surface. Visually, it is truly the Yang to "Sue Me"'s Yin. Don't miss this on both YouTube and Vimeo...also prepare yourselves for something seriously huge coming up very soon!
