EID RECIPE - HALIMA'S BUTTER SEVIYYAN (VERMICELLI)
This buttery vermicelli dessert is one that I have been enjoying ever since I can remember. It's made using the very same method as my darling mum. During our holidays to Pakistan, my aunts would make these Seviyyan for us, but with less sugar. Instead, they'd give us Shakkar to sprinkle over, it was like gold dust. The crumbly jaggery would melt in and become a little like caramel. So yummy 💗
I'M GOING HOME TOMORROW. Not in Saigon anymore but this is what I had for dinner last night. The stewed duck feet were complimentary and very good. The roasted squab here is quite different in terms of size (a lot smaller) and flavor (much less gamey). I have absolutely no idea what fish I ate but it was very fresh and so bright in flavor. The conversion from Dong to Dollar per pound was $28 so I assume it's a good fish. The salt & pepper shrimp was also quite different. The "pepper" being chilli, the shrimp had been butterflied and tip of the head cut off. I also had Claypot Crab Vermicelli. TO DIE FOR. Salty, sweet, spicy and a lil bit bitter. We got to pick our own crab from the live tanks. The soft shell crabs were phenomenal. Now I don't know how they do it but they were LIVE crabs and the shells didn't harden. SO DAMN GOOD, I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN GO BACK TO THAT FROZEN BULLSHIT.
Presenting another version of the Seviyan (Vermicelli) Upma. Loaded the regular Upma recipe with Green Peas, Roasted Peanuts, Chana Dal, Turmeric and Red Chilli. You can add or omit any ingredient based on your preference. Such a healthy and playful recipe this one!!

Making rice paper rolls today! As a healthy alternative to the pork belly and prawns combo you will find at restaurants, I make mine with fish. It is the best source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are incredibly important for your brain #brainfood
