It’s another veggie day around these parts. To adopt a more plant and earth friendly diet, my boyfriend and I decided to incorporate a minimum of two completely vegetarian days a week. So far we’ve been crushing this goal and have even opted to eat vegan/vegetation for 4 or 5 days some weeks. It makes it so much easier to stick with our lifestyle when there are places serving real food all around the city.

Sabudana or Tapioca or Cassava is native to South America, whereon it spread to other parts of the globe. It is believed that it was introduced in India by the Portuguese. Also known as sagu, traditionally sabudana was obtained by extracting and filtering the starch/ milk from the roots, which was then shaped into globules/ pearls. These pearls further underwent a process of roasting and were finally sun-dried. The modern machinery makes it easier though.
Sabudana is considered to be a healthy non-cereal food source, and is rich in good carbs, fiber and calcium, and should be included in one’s regular diet 👌💪

Hoping I can keep tonight's family dinner as protein based as possible...but Chinese places call for noodles or some form of fried rice, it's like annoyingly, mandatory 🙄🤷
So, here's lunch. 
UPDATE: I actually managed to avoid noodles/rice for dinner tonight by some miracle. Instead I went for the 🦀 with mixed veggies but I didnt know the little guy was cooked like lobsters and I was slightly perplexed 😔 I guess it just goes to show how desensitised (or ignorant, I dunno) we can be as to where our meat comes from. Couldn't help but think how there are so many other things I could have eaten, and the only thing that made me think twice was having the cooked crab in the shell right in front of me and not packaged crabmeat picked up from a supermarket hundreds of miles away from where it was sourced. I have massive respect for my veggie friends!

Dealing with any chronic illness is challenging and there are times when you can get off track due to lack of sleep, #selfcare, to much #stress, over working, exposure to new infections and more. This time was rough for me more mentally because I’ve made so much progress. But I’ve learned that I can turn this time into a reset by examining my current situation and making appropriate changes. I had to go back to basics and rebuild. Personnellement, je préfère me préparer à manger, que ça soit rapide ou non, car la préparation de mon assiette fait partie du processus. Je ne me sens pas aussi satisfaite ni aussi rassasiée quand je mange un plat que je n'ai pas préparé pour la simple et bonne raison que mon rassasiement comment par la dégustation visuelle. Certains au contraire préfèrent mettre les pieds sous la table et ne pas cuisiner pour profiter d'avantage de leur assiette

Ma conclusion : prenez le temps de cuisiner si vous en avez envie ou si vous avez des objectifs qui rendent votre présence aux fourneaux indispensable ou essayez juste de vous prendre au jeu pour voir si vous notez une différence sur le plaisir que vous prenez à manger 🌱 .

Boyfriend and I made cheesy grits with roasted #veggies and tomato gravy with #Cajun seasoning. It was phenomenal! Prep time took awhile but using instant grits helped make this go faster! Pretty sure I gained back the calories I burned at the gym 😹

I finally got round to the job of clearing out the whole fridge and cupboards and finding exactly what is in there lurking at the back in preparation for shopping day. I always meal plan and write shopping lists, but out of lack of time and energy I don’t often get round to checking the cupboards prior to the list writing so quite often end up buying double unnecessarily. I came across most of my veg at the stage where I’d normally chuck it, but I decided to hang onto it, and along with a unopened bag of cous cous I also found at the back of a cupboard I made up this meal with all the end of life veg, and it was goooood! #zerowasteliving #couscous #veggiemeal #foodwaste #wastenotwantnot

J'ai testé aujourd'hui le mug cake du livre de recette de @enjoyphoenix que j'ai ajusté à ma sauce. Je vous ai proposé en story de vous faire un comparatif et vous avez été très enthousiaste alors la voici .
Pour la version classique (la tasse du haut) : 1 œuf, 2 càc de cassonade, 40g de farine, 1càc de beurre, des pépites de chocolat. Passez le 1min30 environ au micro ondes en surveillant toutes les 15 secondes 🍪 Le problème avec cette version c'est qu'elle est très compacte et même en cuisant beaucoup moins (je l'ai mis 1 minute à 1min15 seulement) en plus d'être très sucré

Pour la version végétale (la tasse plus bas) : 4càc de compote de pomme, 1càc de cassonade, 40g de farine, 1/2 càc de levure, 1càc de beurre végétal, des pépites de chocolat. Passez le 1min30 environ (voire un peu plus) en le surveillant toutes les 30 secondes 🍪 L'avantage de cette version en plus du fait qu'elle soit végétale, est qu'elle est beaucoup plus légère, moelleuse, face à la première qui était plutôt compact
