Challenging difficult meals LEFT RIGHT AND CENTAAAA dis week 🙌🏻🎉 .
Been trying to push myself in small and meaningful ways this week-which turns out to be mostly tackling fear foods but also reaching out when I want to isolate or trying something new. .

Still basking in the glow of a recent trip to the South of France, where local restaurant MITCH served delicious off-menu vegan dishes like this salad with asparagus, peas, shaved carrots, and sweet potatoes, and fried whipped carrots with cauliflower and green pea mousse 🌱🌿🍃🥕🍠
This weekend is all about me. It's not selfish to have some #selfcare ♥. I wouldn't usually go and get a coffee unless I was meeting someone or socialising but I made a conscious decision that today I'm just going to do what I want. And that was a good work out at the gym and then a little #postgymtreat .
So I'm chilling out by myself in #caffenero with a little #oatmilk Americano (obviously in my #keepcup for that #zerowastelife ) and refuelling with one of thess beautiful little @eat.plnts #veganproteinbar .
Increasingly I'm buying less big brands and going mostly own label and supporting little start ups and independents and these guys tick all my boxes. Made in London and with only natural ingredients - there are no nasties , syrups or sugar in these just dates, #peaprotein , almonds, chickpeas, cocoa, coconut, #aquafaba and #dairyfreechocolate .
They taste GORGEOUS, just like a brownie and are a pretty decent size so much more filling than a normal bar plus you get 10g #plantprotein and they're #highfibre . For context that's more than an egg so #veganprotein definitely isn't difficult to get. .
This is the Cambodia Coconut bar and I love how they're named after the Earth's resources and the company is committed to #protectingtheplanet .
Don't let the aquafaba fool you either, you would never guess they have chickpeas in and just taste like a fudgy brownie.

Last Nights Dinner... It was a big surprise how good these *veggie dogs* turned out. We fried them in some grapeseed oil and put some BBQ sauce on it, then added some sauteéd onions and mushrooms on top, along with the casual toppings of mustered and ketchup. Mmmmmmaaaaannnnn. Going Vegan may not be as hard as I thought. I eat cheese less and less each day. .

I decided to adopt a plant-based diet about a month ago. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
1) It’s added more food options to my diet than removed.
2)You have the nights of “What the f**k are we having for dinner?” no matter your diet.
3) I have fallen in love with cooking & flavors again.
4) The soy frozen “chicken” nugs are 🔟 times better than the chicken ones. (I ate the whole bag in one sitting 🙈). I’ll be sharing the journey including the epically failed recipes, those I can’t get enough of and everything in between.

REAL TALK: This meal brought me to tears for like half an hour. Pasta is a huge fear food for me and so are ‘real’, ‘normal’ meals, especially at lunch and dinner. I’m doing better with breakfasts but the rest of the day usually consists of snack foods. @fearstofit and I are working to move towards more nourishing foods and create real MEALS, which is extremely difficult for me. This was the first step of many and while I didn’t complete all of it, I did most of it and that’s a step especially since I was all on my own. .
It literally felt like I was poisoning myself with each bite-the anorexia voices were that loud. I haven’t felt that way for a very long time-since I was inpatient. But I reached out to the #ftfcommunity and my coach and I did my best. Yes i feel guilty but I also survived. Fall down 7 times, stand up 8. ✨
The start of the week is always a little bit difficult right? And after a weekend of bad eating, a refreshing and healthy salad felt like the right way to go! Considered a hidden gem in #shoreditch today’s lunch was a mixed salad with hummus and bread all for a fiver! At @kafeteriaoldstreet ! And to ease into the work week nicely there was outside seating in the back to enjoy the pleasant weather.
I want to stress one thing I’m learning slowly but surely: the fact that doing things that make you feel at peace with yourself and the world IS NOT SELFISH. it is not bad, or awful, or terrible. .
I have a big mental block with doing things that are good for me because of my core belief of unworthiness. But I’m learning that self care isn’t this huge thing-it’s a NECESSITY to keep us connected to who we are. It’s like preventative maintenance on your car. Yeah you can wait until your car breaks down and you’re panicking on the side of the road, unable to continue on in daily life for a while; but you could also take it in for a tune up every once and a while and carry on with your life no big deal. .
Like I said, I’m still learning, but I’m starting to internalize the idea that it’s actually going to help more than it’ll hurt. ✨ #mentalhealthcomesfirst
