“Although it doesn’t seem likely that wine contains animal ingredients, many are not vegan due to the filtration process. While wine is being produced, organic matter like tannin and proteins are filtered out through a process called fining, which sometimes uses fish oil, egg whites, blood and bone marrow, chitin (derived from crustacean shells), gelatin, and isinglass, which comes from fish swim bladders.
Over the past year, the rising popularity of plant-based diets has led to the increased availability of vegan-friendly wine”

Animal based fining agents are neutral tasting and do not change the flavour of the wine. If you follow a Vegan diet or are concerned about possible allergens in your wine, Vegan certified wines respect your lifestyle.
Lyrarakis wines of Crete is proud to be officially certified Vegan by Swissveg.
Lyrarakis wines of Crete doesn’t add any animal by-products to any phase of the wine production. When necessary, they only add mineral and plant-based fining agents like bentonite, plant protein (potatoes, peas etc) and wine lees. Plant based fining agents are more expensive and very few wineries accept the higher costs.
Two Lyrarakis certified Vegan wines are now available throughout Quebec at your local SAQ.
-Lyrarakis Assyrtiko White 2017. SAQ Code 11996333 $18.70
-Lyrarakis Kotsifali Red 2017. SAQ Code 10703818.
Wishing you a marvellous weekend.

How do these @decibeldan wines look? When you’re looking for vegan-friendly wine, you’ll often find them from smaller producers, boutique wineries, or even 1-man shows. Why? Because it takes a bit more care and attention, a bit more effort, and a bit more alignment with nature💚🍷🌱
I’ll have some of these at the soft-launch! 1st December 2018 @moanapark see you there 😁
'Low Touch Wine Production' meaning minimal human intervention to the winemaking process and allowing rather the natural fruit and elements to do the talking is the what I want to be drinking and putting into my body.
This natural way of making wine is 'back to the traditional way'. Adding nothing but grapes and organic and bio-dynamic processes. Using no tricks, shortcuts, and nasties added in your wine destroying the beautiful and natural beverage. Such high respect for winemakers who produce in this slower and more authentic way.
So proud to exclusively stock vineyards and estates who produce in this way, and we're excited to keep scouting the earth to bring them to you!
