a tiny bit of maple syrup

As I’ve said before, health is about balance. And balance, for me at least, means sometimes having vegan parmesan and a glass (or two) of wine at dinner with your fam 💁🏻♀️
Being on holiday, my dad has cooked all the main meals. Cooking is his Thing, and I definitely get my slight-disregard-for-the-recipe tendencies from him 😂 Tonight he made a tomato sauce and grilled aubergine to go with gnocchi we bought at the market yesterday, and it was bomb 👌👌

1 tbsp of almond butter made with #TheNutramilk ⠀
1 tsp of lucuma powder ⠀
1 tsp of cacao powder ⠀
8 fresh mint leaves ⠀
2 tbsp of blissful brown rice and raw cacao super protein powder @thatprotein ⠀
1 large date ⠀
Cover with your favourite mylk, blend and enjoy! ⠀
Chopped salad made with kale, baby arugula, baby romaine, red peppers, cucumbers, carrots, avacado, jalapeños, and black beans with a simple balsamic vinaigrette. I call this my everything salad because I just use all the vegtables we have in our fridge and it never takes more than 10 minutes max. I recently started massaging and letting my kale sit for about 3 minutes before adding it to my salad because it helps get rid of the bitter taste. To do this I put the kale in a seperate bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on it and break it up with my hands. When I first heard of people massaging their kale I literally thought it was the weirdest thing but I’m telling you it works so well. My kale is never bitter or super crunchy and it only takes 3 minutes to do! 🥗🥒 #choppedsalad#massagingkale#kaleislife

Can you tell I’m a little obsessed with this veggie steak? I really loved the fishless goujons when I tried them too but I think maybe this slightly overtakes them, for me! 😍 I made a low effort meal tonight that included leftover pasta that I just warmed through with koko dairy free milk and a bit of violife, and extra red pesto. Then fried mushrooms with some mushroom ketchup (amazing) and of course the steak was in the pan too. I wish the steaks were a tad cheaper so I could get them more but I’m grateful we have such great vegan options available. 😍 Nom nom nom.
As often as I can, I choose to create, to cultivate, to love and grow. The way we think about what we put into our bodies feels a fitting analogy to me about our outlook on life. Into our bodies we allow that which was once alive to be killed; we allow that death to create these cells that make up our sacred temples.
How often too does the food we eat come from another’s hand—a restaurant, a grocery store, a farmers market? That food is infused with the energy of those hands. Do the hands that grow, touch, prepare, and serve your food treat it with loving kindness?
For me, it is an act of radical self love to grow my own food, to nourish it with the love and care I want it to give me someday. I want to be the Gardener and Creator of my food, because I believe so much in the powerful effect it has on my body, soul, and spirit.
In the same way, I don’t want to allow death, decay, and unnecessary consumerism into my life—in any sense. I want to give, create, and grow—emotionally, spiritually, relationally, professionally, etc.
My life’s mantra is this: I am a creator, I am a lover, and I am a giver, and I will seek to apply these things to all areas of my life. 🙏
Chilllly Sunday calls for a nice warm dish 🔥
Cut up a whole courgette and sauté it in some coconut oil. Add some pure 100% tomato sauce/purée and 3 handfuls of spinach, Italian herbs, garlic powder and pepper. Add in 3 tbsp of silky tofu and let it simmer for a bit. I made buckwheat pasta to go with it and cut up some tomatoes to go with it too.
