Eggs were the last animal products I consumed. I bought free range thinking that it would be better, I was fooling myself. The egg industry is deplorable, treating sentient beings as commodities to do as they wish. Which in the case of males, their lives end on the day they are born, by a shredder. The females, inseminated, and made to produce more babies that are selectively killed or drugged to produce an unnatural amount of eggs.

I had family dinner tonight, as we do every Sunday. My family still eats flesh, dairy, and eggs. They have all been very supportive and our dinners are now mostly vegan. I use these times to discuss, and try to get them to make the connection. What their consumption really means to the countless exploited animals that die needlessly every day.

In all honesty, I think when I break it down, my challenges are like everyone’s. I’m no different to anyone else. I think we have a tendency to think “I’ll be happy if I had that or this or the other - that’d solve my problems”. That’s societies way of thinking and it’s a story we’re sold. But the truth is - is that it’s an illusion. You get it and then what?. It’s the mindset and way of thinking I want to constantly learn. Because we can only solve by thinking differently and being adaptable in approach. 
Most of my challenges are never in physically overcoming an obstacle or a fear ie “back in the day - I overcome that obstacle and it was hard work”. For me, it’s a daily constant. A mindset. And I love it. The reason why I love this challenge is because there’s no destination but a constant opportunity to grow.

It’s the daily - that’s my biggest challenge. Keeping perspective, self observation, daily reminders, taking accountability, on where I can constantly improve. knowing what it is, to go without, is a skill / way of being / mindset I constantly want to get better in. Coming from a first world background with a coat on my back, an i phone, it builds a form of weakness that I want to constantly have in check with myself. Not take anything for granted. Any of it, including the tap water. Because I believe living cushy can makes one weak when they don’t keep perspective, and gratitude in place. The best fighters in the world came from the poorest backgrounds because they had to fight to change their situation. I want to develop that resiliency of knowing what it’s like to leave my comforts. It can be the smallest thing. 
My take home?Do more things that make you uncomfortable - change your lifestyle, go without your comfort, how much you can spend in a day / week / month, take cold showers, have a mentor that performs above you, give up your favourite foods, learn to go without. What do all these do? It builds resiliency. It makes you economic. Adaptive. For me, starting a cold shower was such a small thing but really improved that for me. And I want to see what other areas of my life I can build that resiliency in that I totally overlooked previously.

The poor mans diet got the Rich’s mans dream baby!!! 2 cups of chopped kale, 300g of black beans, 1 cup of fresh asparagus, 1 cup of Quinoa, 1 cup of sweet corn, with a prep time of 10-15 minutes at a cost cheaper than a chip. Eat up and you got yourself all the building blocks to beef up without the beef, and build a formidable gorilla suit 🦍🎩. Destroy the myth. Make Vegainz.

Proper rest is one of the most often overlooked aspects of physical fitness. I know how important it is and I still have trouble taking a rest day. In fact today is the first rest day I have taken intentionally in a while and I’m working around an injury to boot. -
Bottom line, don’t be stupid in the pursuit of faster progress, listen to your body when it needs some rest.

Proper rest is one of the most often overlooked aspects of physical fitness. I know how important it is and I still have trouble taking a rest day. I believe veganism is growing massively because of this guy who has dedicated his whole life to educating everyone about animal liberation.. ******************************************************

veganism has changed my life. I believe me & my sister are as passionate as we are about it  because of the inspiration we got from ed.
******************************************************His talk was emotional and extremely heartfelt. One message that will stay with me forever is this example he gave. ‘You walk past a man beating his dog with a stick, you have three choices’ 
1. You can join the man, & beat the dog also. - that represents meat eaters 
2. You could decide that is cruel and you don’t want to participate in hurting the dog and walk away- that represents vegan
3. You could stop the man from beating his dog, and tell him why it is wrong. Saving the dog & any future dogs he would of otherwise beat- that represents activism.
******************************************************Something to think about .. sometimes being vegan isn’t enough, we need to stand up and be the change that we want to see in the world . 😊

Essentially what your looking at is a feast of energy density geared up for creating a deadlift capable of freeing willy 🐳. Roasted Cauliflower entree with a side of perfectly fried fries from @soomsoomfresh .  This is the best hang over food and it was needed...lol. i love this meal.  Beautiful and tastes really good.  They won a customer!

PROTEIN is important, not only does it provide the building blocks of life but it supports just about every cell / system with the body including the support of our immunity. How much we need however is an ever constant source of debate that is still being discussed. Nature has some signs and signals on protein - but that’s for another post. 
The 2 biggest misconception within the training and nutrition 🌎 that I used to have are that 1. more protein = more gains. And less carbs = greater long term fat loss. If you want to add more muscle mass - eat more protein. If you wanna shred up like Bruce Lee - cut the carbs. This was a belief I had for years and I encouraged every 🦍 I trained with to quickly follow suite. 2. That protein is a food type and not a single structure / component of food. For example - we see eggs, meat, dairy, lentils, tofu, beans, tempeh, as a protein. But these foods aren’t a protein, an egg is an egg. A bean is a bean. A lentil is a lentil. Protein, most simply, is a combination of amino acids. These amino acids have specific roles in our bodies, from metabolism to muscle development. It comes with a package. When we see a food as a macronutrient we fall into a trap of not seeing its whole form. It’s like a marriage, what’s that saying - you marry the love of your life but you also marry the family, so think carefully 👌🏼😂💙. The driver for protein synthesis is highly accompanied by carbohydrates. And when carbohydrates are devoid, protein synthesis is severely squashed. It was only once I got my own 🧠 around the fact, that I didn’t need as much protein as I was told, and not to be afraid of carbohydrates and reversing the cultured coin, that I started to see the fruits 🍇 of all my training efforts, and increase in my own training performance and improvements in my lifestyle parameters and body composition that solidified as a lifestyle rather than “yo-yo cut bulk endless cycle”. In my younger years - I would eat well over excess of 200g of animal protein per day. Over double of what my body actually needs. This is where the excess can cause problems due to the pressure we put our bodies, and the metabolic byproducts of protein metabolism.

Los tacos de hoy llevaban además de un seitán casero marinado al auténtico estilo mejicano a base de cebolla, perejil y una mezcla de especias que hizo hace un tiempo ... .
Además he aprendido de la mano de este señorito (@la_cantenoria ) a hacer tortillas de maíz y yo me siento 🌞🤘🏾🙏🏽 Les hemos añadido tomate picado, una salsa vegana a basa de mayonesa y picante y muchas ganas de comernoslos!
