A bit heartbroken tonight. I pass by 2 beef farms on my way home from work. I realized that one of them was empty and that the cows were gone. It’s still amazing to me what people will do for a profit 😞 #maketheconnection#animalsmatter 📷: @mercyforanimals

I can't even describe the feeling giving water to such an intelligent, terrified and helpless person. There was a moment where this pig and I didn't break eye contact. It was almost like he was searching for answers in my face. All I could do was tell him that I loved him, we're sorry and we're fighting.
I encourage all vegans to get up and start fighting now. Imagine how fast we could stop this evil if every current vegan got active. Veganism does not start and stop and your plate. Remember this face next time you claim that getting active is uncomfortable. (Swipe) Nothing compares to the horror they face every day.
#UrdhvaDanurasana / #WheelPose
Man o man, this pose is intense in all the best ways. Things to do to help improve your wheel pose - shoulder stretches, heart openers, back bends and psoas stretches. All the things. I’m still working on this pose, but swipe to see where I started! —————
The second photo was taken at the end of July 2017 and the first photo was taken in end of May/ beginning of June 2018. 11 months difference of consistent yoga practice.
Not only is there a physical difference (more flexible and 10 pounds lighter), but the most important transformation is the one of self love and acceptance. It hasn’t been an easy transformation and it’s definitely still in progress, but just remember: we all start somewhere. Don’t ever be ashamed of where you’re at in your journey. Be proud of yourself for simply waking up and choosing to better yourself and to love yourself, one baby step at a time ❤️ Yoga hasn’t just helped me get stronger physically, but emotionally as well. I struggled a lot for the first half of 2017 in many areas of my life, but yoga has brought be back to my true nature. Yoga has helped me reconnect with a compassionate, grateful and healthy lifestyle ❤️ Regardless of your age, gender, flexibility level, religious affiliations/ spirituality, etc., yoga can heal you by helping you reconnect with what matters most. If you’re wondering if yoga is for you, the answer is: yes, of course! It’s already a part of you and it’s waiting for you to tap into it ❤️
If you’ve never practiced yoga or you’re fairly new to yoga and are looking for a safe space to explore your practice, I will be teaching an intro to yoga workshop @studioohanabahamas this Sunday (June 24) from 11:15 - 1:15. Feel free to join me for a chat on all things yoga, and an hour long gentle asana practice ❤️
I made granola, and I made a video of it, too! Dry ingredients were purchased from the bulk bins in my own jars, liquid ingredients were all bought in glass bottles. The ONLY waste generated by this was the sheet of parchment paper. I'm getting ready for #plasticfreejuly and I'm getting excited! I'm going to really challenge myself to make little or no trash, and I'll do a trash jar for any waste I do create, for analysis and accountability. I'm no where near "perfect" zero waste, if there even is such a thing, but I'm trying and I'm super happy about the progress I've made with habits and knowledge I've gained🌎 #makinglesstrash
Who’s Lolita? 🤔
Lolita is the loneliest orca 💔 In 1970 she was captured when she was just 4 years old. She has now spent 48 years captive in the smallest orca tank in the U.S. at @miamiseaquarium_ with dimensions that violate the animal welfare act 😔 Lolita hasn’t seen another orca in over 38 years since her companion slammed his head into a tank wall and died. 😔
The good news is Lolita is healthy and there is a coastal sanctuary in her native waters off the coast of Washington waiting for her to come swim, dive, hunt, and communicate with her pod! 💙🌊
Help Lolita by demanding she be sent home.
Stop trying to please everyone! -
I’m going to share a real life story to give you all an example of how you can try to please people and fail- not due to lack of effort, but rather due to the sheer amount of negativity from others. 😬
My husband and I wanted to get married on the beach in Hawaii, with just our immediate families and a few close friends. Our feet in the sand, sea air in our hair, relaxed and beautiful. We knew some in our immediate families couldn’t afford this trip, so we gave up that dream. We decided on a beautiful waterfall in town. We wanted to tie the knot right in front of the waterfall, with the spray possibly reaching us during the ceremony. But....some people couldn’t make the trip down the stairs to get to this destination, so we had the ceremony overlooking the waterfall, which was gorgeous. 💗
For our wedding party, we wanted the clothes to be simple, affordable, and comfortable. We didn’t want to burden anyone with costly dresses or tuxes (we would have had sundresses, khakis, and Hawaiian shirts on the beach, but we had to improvise). So, I found flattering dresses that were super cute and affordable- with a huge benefit- the bridesmaids could wear regular undergarments! Yay! Simple hair, makeup, shoes......tasteful and really pretty.
We thought for sure we had accommodated everyone , paying close attention to their financial needs. You know what? The people for whom we adjusted our plans complained anyway. Nothing was right. It didn’t please them. Text after text, comment after comment (all passive aggressive, of course) of how we failed to please them. Ummm...what?! 😳
This isn’t a “feel sorry for me” story. Don’t! We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and had the most amazing time. We will bring our children there someday to renew our vows....on the beach, of course. 🏝We may invite some family, but we damn sure won’t invite the people who complained about how we did things at our wedding. 👊🏼
My point? Stop trying to please everyone! (Continued in comments)👇🏼
I loved all the positive feedback from my Toronto vegan ice cream guide last summer, so I’ve reposted it in my profile. There are so many new locations to add and so many that I missed (which is fantastic) so maybe I’ll make another this year - any excuse to eat ice cream🍦But, if you’re into a healthier option, try these adorable, raw and super tasty ice cream sandwiches from Sweet Hart Kitchen in Kensington Market 💕
