First one was a success! Such a fun time meeting you all and hanging out. Everyone brought their A-game, setting the bar high food-wise for the next ones! Delicious fresh spring rolls with sambal and homemade hoisin, vegetable couscous, tofu in tomato sauce, chilled cucumber salad, vegan chicharron, five spice yuba in sesame buns, market strawberries and an array of Filipino desserts. The sun was out and there were puppies everywhere. Thanks so much for meeting up and stay tuned while we set a date for the next one!

Today John Lewis aka #badassvegan presented an excellent talk at TVF annual speaker’s day! He spoke on his upcoming documentary @hungryforjusticefilm which explores food deserts & hip hop. He also touched on vegan athletes, feeding your body whole, plant based foods + more.
@vinnyvegan aka #gangstervegan also brought out 7-year old @veganevan who dropped a few bars on the vegan lifestyle 👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾.

We have been married 6 years today, 14 years of boyfriend/girlfriend status and 18 years of BFF life. Now we’re also co-parents to twins and business partners; it seems fitting that we’re celebrating our anniversary today by catering a wedding. I feel so lucky to have a hilariously talented, kind and gentle man in my life and the fact that we met as teens and get to spend pretty much our whole lives together makes me feel like I won the life lottery. Also to our dear friends and family that were at our wedding, thank you for celebrating with us, dancing until you couldn’t breath, jumping on the trampoline and making our wedding day the most fun day of our lives.

I enjoyed learning more about making almond milk today. I always thought it was a complicated process of soaking, straining and who knows what else! This one was so easy - 1 cup of water and 20 raw unsalted almonds in the Vitamix until smooth. Then add vanilla for vanilla almond milk or other items like frozen bananas and dates for smoothies! So simple! 🌱
Did someone say avocado pesto? 🥑 Yup that’s right I made a raw avocado pesto sauce to mix into some high protein chickpea pasta. I enjoyed this deliciousness with a vegan horiatiki salad minus the olives and caper because I didn’t have any ☹️ bus it’s okay because it was still very tasty! This pesto sauce contains avocado,
fresh garlic and
nutritional yeast ✨
Today at the Milwaukee Zoo they had zoo ala carte where tons of local restaurants set up blogs with different foods for sale. One thing I got was a tofu spring roll with peanut sauce. Not amazing, but pretty good! Plus it was light and refreshing. I hope y’all are having a good day too!!
It’s not often that I post about the food that I make... but these pyramid mountains of vegan balls came out so pretty I just had to STOP working to have a photo shoot!😎🍀🌟 In recent years it’s been a goal of mine to “not be on my phone all the time,” especially at work or with friends... Its too easy to get sucked into the screen playing with photography and writing, and suddenly I’m in a time warp. For sure, practicing being present has led me to pass up many a photo opportunity.
But... Working in the kitchen has been such a pivotal part of my life, of my creativity and self-expression... I think it’s worth taking the time to share, even if it means more “screen time” to capture it.

As far as fruit goes - berries offer the biggest nutritional impact w the least amount of sugar. And as I’m sure many people agree, strawberries are the best! For the first time, I smelled jackfruit and it was pre-cooked and packaged from the store. I was very surprised it smelled just like meat/pulled pork and it is made from fruit. How incredible is this? Just imagine for a moment how many dishes you can create using cooked/dehydrated jackfruit.

I’ve never been a salad kinda guy, even though this was refreshing to have after my run. But I’m still not a salad kinda guy.
Did you know that the small, straggler chunks of fries make an awesome, gluten-free substitute for croutons? Of course, it only works with the thick cut pommes de terre...😏

Hojaldre is our traditional fried bread, typically eaten for breakfast. There are many variations, but here's the recipe they use in my parent's:
1lb all purpose flour
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp vegan butter
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
Mix well until smooth, roll into a log and cut pieces two inches thick. Let rest at least an hour, covered. Heat some oil, spread/stretch out the dough with your hands and drop it into the hot oil. Ready when golden brown on both sides.
