When someone you love passes away, it's hard to do anything but cry. 😔 But let me tell anyone who may be going through this, there is light. Your mind may look like this photo, foggy with a hint of life. It may be like this for years or a week, but whatever stage of grief you may be at, you have the power to make it through the dark, muddy water. Your legs are strong enough to carry you, and your heart is big enough for yourself and anyone else you choose to be a part of it. .
RIP Uncle Melvin, you'll always be a part of my heart. 💓
My favourite heartwarming dishes are on the menu again ✨ Much like this Lentil Shepherds Pie that is easy to make, delicious and packed full of goodness. Today’s quote is the perfect Friday quote as people prepare for the weekend, but it is not only about the weekend. This quote applies to all of us, at all times and in all time zones because we all shine like the stars, after all, we're made of love and star dust.
When we contemplate the vastness of creation and the number of unanswered questions, we realise the magic of it all. How the soul is the magic within our bodies that connects to the divinity of an infinite source of power. When the soul departs from the body, our heart stops as does our breath and there is no power, technology or intellect that can bring us back. once our soul has departed.
Today, we invite you to take a few moments to really and truly contemplate the wonder within you. How magical you are. How you can make the difference that makes THE difference, with a smile, a kind gesture or just by staying silent and holding space for those who need to feel heard. Let the magic within you shine out, in the brightness of its full glory and wonder.
Wishing you a Friday radiating your true light…
When you go to a nutririonist and she tells you you can't have coffee anymore.. drink hot cocoa! Jk, can't have anything w anything close to sugar either, including cane sugar. So no @elementsforlife spiced hot choc for me any time soon #verysad . •
Any other personal favourites I can't have (a lot of) at the moment either: kombucha, non-raw chocolate, peanut butter(!!!!!), sriracha and anything spicy in general. Not sure how I'm gonna manage this month but oh well.
I think there's just one person who's gonna suffer more from this than I am: the boyfriend. Bc tbh I'm not really a very pleasant person w either coffee or choc sooo this is gonna be interesting. •
In the pic tho: oat banana cookies w raw cacao and a spicy hot choc by @elementsforlife (which is, even though I can't have it atm, very very good, I promise. Discount code in highlights or through link in bio).
BALI 🇲🇨: Nasi campur made of dreams ☁️🌿💕 perfect for those who want to try a little bit of everything 👌🏼
So in love with everything about @givecafe - the look, the feel, the food but most importantly the concept behind it. Give is @kyndcommunity‘s sister cafe and is 100% plant-based and gives 100% of its profits back to the community. After covering their operating expenses, the rest of the money is donated to charity. Every month there are 3 charities Give raises money for & customers get to put a token in the donation box of their choice. “You should build a longer table - not a higher fence” how inspiring 👏🏼

#tbt Don’t ever be afraid to speak up! You and everyone else is worth it. We are in this together! 👯♀️❤️ Have you ever stood up for something you believe in? Have you ever stood up to someone whom you disagreed with? Or have you ever stood up to a bully that was hurting somebody else? There has been so many times in my life, unfortunately, that I just let people walk over me or someone else that I loved. I think it’s normal for a human to experience something like this and maybe feel voiceless or as if there it’s not their place to speak. Through the years of my compassionate journey, I have learned to have more of a voice not only for myself but for others. Something so special that took place at the beginning of September was the Marchofsilence. It was the first time I was able to so strongly exercise my voice for another living being. It was such a cool experience, chills the entire time. And so forever grateful for the impact that this March made on me and others around me. There’s something really special about helping other living things. And being able to do it in a calm and collected manner. What an example. Silence is sometimes the strongest thing we have. Thank you @chefitophoto taking this photo and capturing this moment. Marching with my kind and compassionate vegan sisters @backw00dzbarbie @ms_k3ndra 🤸🏼♀️❤️✅✨🌱🌱🌱🌱🐶🦄
"If you are on the right path, it will always be uphill" ⛰ This rings especially true for me right now because I've been working literally 12 hours a day since Sunday because of a revision deadline on a paper submission--I want to finish it before going to Arizona this weekend! 🌵 Academia involves a lot of struggle but I know it's the right path for me 🙌🏻
(Sidenote: it's still mid 80s out and we're getting wildfire warnings nonstop, so I'll be wearing shorts til it feels like fall 🤷♀️)
Yesterday evening I decided to eat porridge for dinner as I was too busy at the morning and had no time for cooking, so I craved for an oatmeal all day :( But this one turned out to be unusual for me - some of you may know that I used to make really creative porridges every morning, but now I’m like more “conservative” about ‘em and making my breakfasts more plain and simple. However, here it is - carrot cake porridge, duh. I know it looks not as pretty as other “breakfast” ideas, but who cares when it tastes damn good? I even got a recipe for you:
1 shredded carrot
teaspoon of nut butter (used cashew)
teaspoon of flaxseed
plant milk & water
Easy vegan burrito bowls! A go-to meal, usually every week because it’s delicious, quick to prepare, and healthy, too 👍🏼 Brown rice with black beans, corn and kale seasoned with cumin and paprika, topped with some homemade guac, salsa, and some nutritional yeast after the photo 🥑🍅🌯🥗🌽🌶

#tbt to last Saturday at @sfbve_ Brewfest and Vegan Eats Invitational. I had a good time with my bestie as we ate and sipped our way through the festivities. I really tried to like beer but the surrounding greenery had more sips of beer than I did 😂😂😂 BUT, I did enjoy the Kombucha Beer from @drhopskb because it was light, refreshing and delicious. Can we take a moment and bless the vegan chefs though? @atlas.monroe your vegan Chicken and Ribs were bomb!! My non-vegan bestie loved it! The chicken was Krispy and crunchy and so flavorful and the sauce on the ribs 🔥. You can take all my money! The pastries from @pigoutveganfoods you would never know were vegan, their Raspberry Coffee Cake made late night sips of tea sinfully delicious. The tacos from @omsabor were well.worth the wait. I need to figure out how to replicate those Hibiscus Flower and Avocado Tacos because I haven't stopped thinking about them ever since. And finally, the matcha gelato chocolate dipped bar made that walk to the parking garage magically delicious! Can't wait for the next event 🤗 #sfbve#sanfrancisco#veganfood#veganeats#vegantales#vegan#vegansofinstagram#vegancommunity#vegangirl#veganlife#vegansofig#veganism#veganblogger#veganpower#poweredbyplants#atlasmonroe#pigout#omsabor#beer#drhops#kombucha#eatwell#veganfinds#veganlove

Finally made myself some banana nice cream 🎉 AND finally made good use of my @coconutbowls 🌴 and matching coconut spoon, how cute is the little message on it?! 😍
Hands down the simplest meal I've ever made; just frozen banana, almond milk, @arbonneaunz vanilla protein powder and @mayversfood super spread - toppings are shredded coconut, white chia seeds, walnuts and banana 😋
How did I make it pink? Can you guess? I'll give you a hint - not pitya powder 😜
Went down to @rawtrader on my uni break following the advice of my lecturer - suffice to say I was thoroughly impressed 😍🤤🙌🏽
