#throwbackthursday to our trip up into the Yorkshire Dales; a.k.a Seb’s Mum’s back garden. We’re always happy to get into the middle of nowhere and explore country lanes and hidden scenic routes; getting away from the hustle and the bustle of the world is what #Vanlife is all about (that and wearing bright red trousers).
Ok...ok...!
Schlagt doch mal was vor! ;) #vantreffen#unterfreunden#sunset#beachlover#vanlife
I love our little home 😍💕 My course requires me to move around every so often, too quickly to rent anywhere and certainly not with a dog. Living in a van has allowed me to keep Mutley and be somewhere that I can join @the.weeknd.r too 👫🐕 But I can't believe I'm already half way through my last placement! Just 3 months to go...⠀
(Side note: I've also now moved from extremely disorganised into very prepared since I've left out the Christmas tinsel for so long, I'm now prepared for next Christmas. Well done me 🎄)
You don't have to go far to find solitude in a 4x4 camper. Having more options means you can venture just slightly off the regular course of travel. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------At Joshua Tree last week, all the roads were blown out by the storm. Not even a mile past all of the 5th wheels and RVs, I found this little chunk of land to enjoy all to myself. It was peaceful watching all the cars fly by and knowing that none of them would come to close to my desert oasis.
I feel like it`s quite common for a certain type of vanlife being portrayed on instagram. Although I like the aesthetics of long flowy dresses, beach waves and flower crowns, I personally could not keep up such a life. I woke up to miserable weather that lasted throughout the day, condensation from hanging out for a few hours and a drained car battery from airing out the van while I went exploring. Nothing better than your car starting when the warning light for the battery is flashing, and your car huffs and puffs before the engine turns on. The simple joys of life. I then proceeded to leave my hiking boots at the camp ground and had to come back for them, and hung Dorians coat to dry on the car, forgetting about it until I had driven off and parked elsewhere. My outfits consist of a hoodie I have worn for a week straight and a baselayer as pants because it beats fleece panda pajamas, and my home has a constant wet-dog smell. Glamorous, you say? I wouldn`t have it any other way though 🚐
With park ups like this I’m not sure we’ll ever really leave Wales..... the first few nights back on the road after a wonderful work placement. We are all readjusting, remembering our groove and settling back in to this special life together.
Warm sunsets and bright blue sunrises most certainly help....
We miss The Sub 😔
She has had her oil leak fixed and her gearbox serviced, but the welding on the chassis was too complicated for the shop so The Sub is off to a different one. We hope to have her back by Monday, having lost an entire week of conversion time we are raring to fit our windows and rear seats!
193 days till we leave!
For anyone wondering, this is the reason for my solar projet, we run a 12/24v DC dedicated 170L fridge/freezer, it's surprisingly frugal on power consumption. I was warned that this system is a little more complicated and troublesome than the standard 3 way fridge setup BUT a 3 way is not very economical on DC power and we did not want to be burning gas all the time because I neither want to forever be buying gas nor do we want to be producing emissions 24/7. I'm pleased with our choice and how well its turned out, much less panels and batteries than I was expecting to need.
Y E A H !! || Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here & I’ve got the parts to fix my sliding door! (Any tips fully appreciated) Also I have a lovely weekend planned with some of my favourite people. 🤙🏽🌿💕
Woohoo! New solar controller turned up today, the permanent one, the $50 10 amp one from ebay boasted great functionality BUT (surprise surprise) was not good enough at regulating voltage and saw the batteries reaching over 32 volts 😨 so I bit the bullet and got a 30 amp trust worthy brand that's built like a brick dunny, the 10 amp and 200w of panels has held us only just for over a year, 30amp and 600w of panels is in the process of being installed and I hope that's more than enough year round, if not the 30 amp can take up to 780w and if I need to I'll put a couple extra panels on that only get plugged in over winter when the panels will never see full output. Oh! And it also has bluetooth so I can monitor it or adjust perimeters via my phone 😯😁
