#4ad special billing with #usgirls and #tuneyards at #themayan#dtla . I panicked for a bit, was such in a hurry to make it in time for a 9pm start. Arrived at venue, id checked at door, security pat down, e-ticket scanned, didn’t get recognized after a couple of scans, still, guy checked will call then he let me in. In lobby, unfamiliar merch and unfamiliar crowd. Band playing was death metal ! What the hell ?! Did I miss the show ? Am in a wrong date ? Checked ticket guy, said “go next door!” What the fuck ! I was at the Belasco Theater next to the Mayan ! So much for that !

In an era where content is king and making art requires a glut of peripheral ancillary media, does “content” distract from art? Tonight at NeueHouse Hollywood Tune-Yards’ Merrill Garbus (@tuneyards) and U.S. Girls’ Meg Remy (@usgirls.and.remy) will discuss the challenges of making art, making meaning, and ultimately, making content in the modern age. Presented in collaboration with Rolling Stone (@rollingstone) #NHHollywood#TuneYards#USGirls#RollingStone
Still combing through 1,500 photos from TIMF weekend and working on a write-up that’ll be up tomorrow, but I had to throw this photo of Meg Remy out into the world cause it’s my favorite one of the weekend. Through Meg’s eyes, the slight turn of her head and the juxtaposition of the sunlight with the stage lighting, the feeling of the weekend rushes through my brain, my heart and my soul all over again. I haven’t been affected by a band’s live performance every time I see them quite like U.S. Girls. If you saw me this weekend, or even leading up to the festival, I’m sure I gushed about how this was the can’t miss performance of the fest and I hope you had a chance to feel the energy of this group and Meg on Sunday. Much love 🤘🏼
