Cats mark their territory by rubbing or scratching, thereby leaving their scent. Dogs mark their territory by, well, urinating on surfaces.
Then how do humans mark their territory? To me (based on an evening walk along the streets of Budapest which makes a very reliable research), it’s by tweaking the regularity. Modifying the order. By pasting stickers on a post box or shouting “Punx Not Dead” in a written form or letting plants grow as they want to on a neoclassic balcony.
What the world has perceived as “imperfection” has actually been, and will always be, a part of us. We even long for it.
In fact, that’s what makes us humans. #n8erasmus
