When you support an Artist and something that is Handmade, you are not just supporting a person or a small business.
You are purchasing a small part of an artists heart.
When you buy something from an artist
You’re buying more than an object.
You’re buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation. You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy.
You’re not buying just one thing,
You are buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul...
A small piece of someone else’s life.
It is a great privilege to be able to work with, and I suppose work off, my feelings through sculpture. (Louise Bourgeois)
This charming little fellow is a ‘willie wagtail’ or ‘Jingeri’ (in the local Yugambeh Language). You might have heard the term ‘Jingeri’ during the recent Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast earlier this year.
The Yugambeh people are the traditional custodians Queensland’s Scenic Rim, where ‘Tambella’ is located.
Jingeri are prolific around our home and our recent beach holiday camping saw us surrounded by these little pocket rockets.
Their call is a territory cry and they LOVE to dance... I’m not even kidding, these guys bust moves you’ve never seen before, wiggling their tail feathers and fanning their wings as they land and bounce around on their incredibly delicate stick legs.
