“The Devil wants to fill my emptiness with an unhealthy dependence on the acceptance of others. Because then he can get me so focused on the shallow opinions of others I get completely distracted from deepening my relationship with Christ. And in the process is my masked boasting pulling others into the crazy comparison traps that lured them away from Christ as well? It’s all an unhealthy cycle that’s never satisfying. And again, I’m not against social media but we do have to be careful how we use it. Is it to bless others with encouragement and love or are we really just boasting on ourselves and feeding others’ unhealthy comparison to us?”
-Lysa Terkeurst, “Uninvited”
I would highly recommend this book. I first read Lysa Terkeurst’s “It’s Not Supposed to be This Way” book (which I’d also HIGHLY recommend. It was life changing for me). But then I picked this one up & love it as well. Also life changing.
I have a love-hate relationship with social media. Lysa took the words right out of my mouth.
