Diets. The thing about them.... some of them can work. There is some great research behind a lot of them. They deliver results. No doubt. BUT. The issue is...They work short term and do not in any way help you to develop a wholesome relationship with food where you LEARN how to eat well for life. They are based around restriction and deprivation which always backfires. The results are usually veryyyy short lived. When I was practicing as a nutritionist - I never met a client who could stick to the diet for longer than 3-6 months. That’s just from clinical experience. Personally... I was the same. I tried every single diet out there and after 3-6 months my mind and body rebelled. I also developed orthorexia because I developed so much fear around the foods I was told not to have! SO I discovered another way to feel my best. I found a way that incorporates balance, and no restriction. I found a way that helped me develop a more mindful and positive relationship with food and my body. I found a way to live the healthy life for life.... it’s the JSHealth  way. Meal prep Monday’s. 
Don’t you love starting the week feeling organised and on top of everything for the 6 next days ahead. I do! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Preparing some meals ahead of time and increasing the quantity of food cooked = more time up your sleeve during the week to do other things. Think about how long  you’d save yourself at night when you get home from work if your dinner was all ready to go. Even better .. leftovers can be turned into lunch for the following day!
Tonight I have an 8 hour slow cooked beef in the pot which should be ready when I get home. This week I’ve opted for more of the Italian flavours with plenty of fresh parsley, oregano, chilli and lemon. I’ll most likely pair this with some cauliflower rice, as a lower carb (but still delicious) option.

Hard boiling eggs in my instapot.  They peel so much easier than my old boiling water method.  I like to use the “on-demand pressure” and set it at 6 minutes.  What’s your favorite way to hard boil 🥚 eggs?

ALL the DIETS I have EVER attempted to follow had a RESTRICTION against those ⤴️ things...... I THOUGHT I couldn’t HAVE THEM. 
Like, NEVER. As in — giving them up. FOREVER.

I would follow those DIETS with their restrictive rules...and YES I would see results. 👉 HERE is where the “BUT” comes in... BUT, with the idea of OMITTING certain things from my life — when I would indulge, or find myself
FACING an eating opportunity that presented options that were RESTRICTED — like say, ALL THE HOLIDAY 🎃🦃🎄TREATS & GATHERINGS that are about to take place.....it would be ALL or nothing for me. .
▪️If I were counting CALORIES?

I’d say — well, I guess I won’t be COUNTING these calories. Then, I’d dive in. Find myself in a frenzy, fall down a slippery slope...and a few weeks later, I’d gain the weight back. And feel GUILTY. I’d think, WELP, I’ve already messed up, I should just GIVE UP now.

▪️If I were counting POINTS? 
Yep. Same EXACT scenario as ⤴️⤴️⤴️⤴️. ••••
Thing is...I don’t WANT to give up those things...for forever. And I don’t want it to be ALL OR NOTHING. 
Maybe you don’t want it that way either?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ .
🙌🏻Life is better with PIZZA, TACOS, CHOCOLATE, and MILKSHAKES. Am I right?

The plan I am following NOW...SAYS the opposite of all the OTHER DIETS I’ve tried over the years. 
I don’t say NO to anything. 
Nothing. It’s NOT 🚫 a DIET.

The only DIFFERENCE is, because of the Education that COMES with this plan...I have LEARNED techniques that have made me more cognizant of the FOOD CHOICES I am making....I am more AWARE of the MODERATION that my body needs.

To be honest, I have learned the MODERATION that my MIND needs to keep my body healthy. 
I mean, let’s face it...being & staying on a healthy path takes MENTAL ACROBATICS.
It just does.

So, yesterday I had a Chocolate Milkshake.

And I felt absolutely ZERO guilt.

First, I was up at 6am getting Chacester to hockey for just before 8am. THEN taxi’d kids around for “team eats” and “treats” between games, BEFORE heading BACK to a new arena for our next game 😝😜🤪

I helped out a few families as I’m a solid believer in helping hockey family when I can 😊❤️

I swear the people that organize this kinda sport 🏒🥅 don’t give a 🐭 a** what your work schedule or availability is like 🙊🙈. It’s the truth!! Soooo many parents were unable to attend today and I felt honest to god so lucky 💕... NOT ONLY so I could be there to support our team and my own little all star during what’s kind of an anxious time ~ but for MY OWN FAMILY CAUSE today too. If I wasn’t on “stand by” to help his Dad on his days ~ we’d be looking and leaning on others for that same bail out too. .

So here I was at 9:45PM, taking on MY DAY. #momlifeisreal #momslifeisimportant. .
And while I COULD HAVE been sitting, scrolling, or mindlessly snacking ~ I chose take that time and put it into ME. .
💖And girls, choosing our hard sometimes is often misrepresented by what seems easy 💖

Did you know I thought it was Saturday ALL DAY TODAY !!! . First, I was up at 6am getting Chacester to hockey for just before 8am. THEN taxi’d kids around for “team eats” and “treats” between games, BEFORE heading BACK to a new arena for our next game 😝😜🤪 . I helped out a few families as I’m a solid believer in helping hockey family when I can 😊❤️ . I swear the people that organize this kinda sport 🏒🥅 don’t give a 🐭 a** what your work schedule or availability is like 🙊🙈. It’s the truth!! Soooo many parents were unable to attend today and I felt honest to god so lucky 💕... NOT ONLY so I could be there to support our team and my own little all star during what’s kind of an anxious time ~ but for MY OWN FAMILY CAUSE today too. If I wasn’t on “stand by” to help his Dad on his days ~ we’d be looking and leaning on others for that same bail out too. . . So here I was at 9:45PM, taking on MY DAY. #momlifeisreal  #momslifeisimportant . . And while I COULD HAVE been sitting, scrolling, or mindlessly snacking ~ I chose take that time and put it into ME. . 💖And girls, choosing our hard sometimes is often misrepresented by what seems easy 💖 . Now I still look the same - on the outside, because NOTHING is instant; I FEEL IN CONTROL of my emotions, and my feelings ~ 😊💖 and the best part about a late night workout ~ is I totally earned that chocolate snack 🙌🙌🙌 (BCAA style 😜) . ✌️out Happy Friday Night

Health. What does that word mean to you? What do you conceptualise as being healthy? 
Three years ago, I was finishing my second year of uni. My group of friends were all avid gym goers, so I decided to join too. For the first time in my life I started to care about diet and exercise after always being naturally very skinny, and was heavily sucked into the online world of “clean eating”. I thought I was doing everything right. I was working out just about every day, and only ate “clean” foods which were unprocessed and has as little added ingredients as possible. I even got annoyed at the fact that canned chopped tomatoes had a tiny bit of added salt. It was extreme, and I was fighting with my then boyfriend and mum about food constantly. However, in my eyes, I saw myself as doing everything right. 
It was during that time that I started to notice my first real bouts of gastrointestinal discomfort. I cut out dairy all together for a while on my “clean eating” journey, and noticed my tum would get upset when I started to eat it again. I didn’t think too much about it though, and just told myself to keep avoiding dairy. Fast forward one year and extreme gastrointestinal symptoms every time I ate - I was diagnosed with Crohn’s and IBS. What a shock it was, because in my eyes, I was doing EVERYTHING right to be healthy. Little did I know that what would follow would be two big Crohn’s flares, where I could barely move my body without being in agony and all I could digest was mashed potatoes. Sometimes even a sip of water was enough to make me run to the bathroom. 
But that’s when I realised, what I had become conditioned to perceive as healthy wasn’t healthy at all. I went from worrying excessively about what I was eating, to sometimes not being able to eat at all. The extremism wasn’t worth it, and I refuse to ever let myself promote those attitudes towards health on my page. I still find it hard to read people promoting extremism, and unfollow anyone who I believe is too rigid. Health isn’t perfect, it’s being happy and feeling like you’re thriving - and this looks different on everyone.

Because before I started my journey post partum and well before coaching ~ I flip flopped with fitness and nutrition and couldn’t sustain it on the daily. .
I would buy every new pill, risk my health, not even check out any ingredients for “magical solutions” .
My energy was SO frickin LOW!! .

Every calorie was A WAR!! .
•••
I’d deprive and binge, deprive and binge, only to notice I was never maintaining my weight ~ rather chasing what always seemed so out of reach and impossible. .

I know the simple, basics are tried and true. And I know we live in a world where over complicating things often somehow makes more sense?? But the message I took away from today ~ and then it hit me..

I’ve finally reached happiness and peace with who I am, where I’m at in this lifestyle and where I want to stay. .
••
I think too often we over look ways to JUST MAINTAIN. And after I lost my baby weight ~ this is where I am at. .
••
Why not just pause and reflect and remain where we feel our most happiest ??

People are always so quick to judge ~ and believe me I’ve battled that kind of negative self talk my whole life ! .•••
So instead of judging and comparing, I feel like we should consider how much people truly are just BEAMING🤩⭐️💖

Chocolate banana bread
Wet Ingredients:
3 ripe bananas
¼ cup melted coconut oil @crede_natural_oils
2 tblspns jaggery, pure maple syrup or honey
¼ cup coconut sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract @nomuchirps ...
Dry Ingredients:
1 ¼ cups oat flour @antoniasbotanicals
¾ cup almond flour @natureschoicesa
½ cup unsweetened cacao powder @soaringfreesuperfoods 
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon Himalayan salt
...
Add-in
½ cup chopped pecan nuts
½ cup chocolate chips (I used chopped up 70%  @lindtsa
...
*Preheat the oven to 190deg
*Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or use a silicone pan
*Mash the bananas, add the coconut oil, sweetener, coconut sugar, egg and vanilla. Whisk until well incorporated
*Add oat flour, almond flour , cacao, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix together then gently fold in walnuts and chocolate
*Pour batter evenly into prepared loaf pan
*Bake for 60-70minutes. (Mine took 65minutes.) Test by sticking a toothpick into the center of the loaf, if it comes out clean it’s ready
*Allow to cool on a cooling rack for about 1 hour
*I topped with the new salted caramel nut butter which @jordyns_channel and @antoniasbotanicals launched last week

See this lil plate...yea...its MIT helping me reach my goals at all. 
I woke up today thinking it was gonna be a  bad day nutritionally. I had my mind set on it for some reason. 
As I was eating this lil plate of nachos, I was like "Pamela, what the he** are you doing??" You see I didnt really WANT them, but I thought I NEEDED them. But I dont. I put the rest in the trash, drank a big glass of water ( which is what I actually did NEED) and said to myself... "SELF... today is gonna be a great day for proper nutrition" and carried on with my studying without a second thought to those nachos.

You see..sometimes we eat badly not because we we WANT to...not even because we NEED to...but bc we THINK we need or want to.

Next time you go to reach for a bag of chips, or chocolate, or cookie...stop...THINK about how you are feeling in that particular moment. Do you NEED it, do you just WANT it or do you think it will help you feel better? Chances are the answer to all of those  questions will be no. 
Be mindful of your emotions...they play a huge role in what how and how much we eat. Learn to listen to your hunger cues to decide if you truly are hungry for nuritioning meal, or just trying to feed and emotion.

I did not feel good on the left. My journey started out as a weight loss goal, but has turned into so much more! Yes, I’ve transformed physically but what’s best is I have a healthier mindset, more confidence, a better relationship with food and no longer look at the scale as evil. .

This is why I’m especially excited about the nutrition program I am following and becoming a Mentor in which is geared towards anyone who wants to lose between 5-100+ pounds (or maintain), but most important wants to stop dieting and learn how to eat right for positive results and just live and enjoy life without food restrictions and develop a healthy MINDSET. 🥑 An avocado pumpernickel bagel topped with balsamic vinegar + tomatoes + garlic & herb seasoning + black sesame seeds. 🍅 The toppings were simple but the flavors were not! Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to give up  your favourite foods- like these juicy, saucy chicken wings we had for dinner last night.  It just means you will have to pay more attention to how you make them.  It is best to look for organic meats that are raised to roam free and are not given any antibiotics or hormones.  Grass fed is also ideal but not always easy to find.  Also the BBQ sauce I used was made from scratch from the #undiet cookbook.  However, I know not everyone makes their own BBQ sauce so if purchasing be wary as they can contain a lot of added sugar and not so good for you ingredients.  Always read the ingredient lists of the food you purchase to avoid unhealthy ingredients.  We ate this with a delicious kale salad was part of my #CNEprogram assignment, that recipe can be found in the #undietcookbook also.  For the chicken wings I did not measure anything for the chicken wings but see below for the method 👇😋 1.  Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
2.  place wire rack on a baking pan lined with parchment to catch any drippings and lay chicken wings on top
3.  Season both sides generously with salt and pepper
4. Brush your favourite BBQ sauce on both sides of the chicken wings
5.  Bake in oven for approx 1 hour until fully cooked flipping halfway through

Both served their purpose in the sense I gained so much knowledge about who I am, my personal goals. .
I learned A LOT about balanced nutrition and how food can really fuel us and work with us ~ not against. .
I loved everything single thing about doing these programs and sharing those days with other men and women. Accountability groups just for me, make perfect sense. .

It’s funny how such small things in life can bring you so much JOY. One of my favourite things to do is create easy, nutritious recipes that can be utilised by anyone regardless of their culinary skill. I can’t wait to share my blog with you soon so you can use my healthy food ideas! 👩‍🍳 Now for the photo. I wanted to make two versions of gluten / dairy free raspberry muffins, so I split the mixture and added banana & dark choc to one 🍌🍫 and lemon and coconut to the other 🍋🥥.Such an easy way to please different taste buds!

Sooooo, I’m a dance teacher. I put an ENORMOUS amount of pressure on myself to be exceedingly good at dance, and it’s pretty dang hard to maintain if you’re not entrenched in the daily practice & taking classes consistently. (I haven’t been doing that since college, 9 years ago) .
So, sometimes my dance skills are really pretty average. Especially compared to the massive amount of young talent out there... I feel old and again, average. Lol.
.
But here are a few things I try to remind myself:
1. Teaching dance is way more than being a phenomenal dancer... there are a TON more skills that come along with it.
2. I have the ability to brush up on anything and practice on my own. No one is stopping me from getting better.
3. I need have fun whether I’m great at something or whether I suck at something. It’s a growth process and a humbling one. .
Do you ever get so scared to do something or work on something because you’re pride gets in the way?? No? Just me?? 😂
.
Well, don’t be afraid. 
Take the new class. 
Do the new workout. 
Work on the skill you have been avoiding because you hate facing the struggle. I promise you it will feel soooo good once you improve. It may sting a little on the process, but it feels good to push yourself. 💕

I put an ENORMOUS amount of pressure on myself to be exceedingly good at dance, and it’s pretty dang hard to maintain if you’re not entrenched in the daily practice & taking classes consistently. (I haven’t been doing that since college, 9 years ago) . So, sometimes my dance skills are really pretty average. Especially compared to the massive amount of young talent out there... I feel old and again, average. Lol. . But here are a few things I try to remind myself: 1. Teaching dance is way more than being a phenomenal dancer... there are a TON more skills that come along with it. 2. I have the ability to brush up on anything and practice on my own. No one is stopping me from getting better. 3. I need have fun whether I’m great at something or whether I suck at something. It’s a growth process and a humbling one. . Do you ever get so scared to do something or work on something because you’re pride gets in the way?? No? Just me?? 😂 . Well, don’t be afraid. Take the new class. Do the new workout. Work on the skill you have been avoiding because you hate facing the struggle. I promise you it will feel soooo good once you improve. It may sting a little on the process, but it feels good to push yourself. 💕 . Happy Hump Day, friends.
