How do you release tension from your body and mind?
Yoga is my mainstay, both movement and postures, and especially deep forward bends 💚 I enjoy visualising stress and tension (and even unwanted thoughts) flowing down my dangling arms as stale, murky, lumpy water, and flooding out from my fingertips into the ground beneath me. Welcome relief! I can almost see the earth beneath rapidly absorbing it, then doing its magic thing of recycling and transforming it into freshened, grounded radiating energy!
This is where my spine geekiness comes in... As I rise from the forward bend, I visualise my spine like a fresh fern frond unfurling up into a graceful, long, strong and flexible stem. This never fails to calm and refresh me, and ease any sense of 'stuckness' I may have been feeling, as I move my body progressively from base of spine upwards back to standing. The flow of the upward energy in this movement is strong and smooth as I see in my mind's eye timelapse clips I recall of ferns uncurling their beautiful green fronds and standing tall and fresh and strong! 💚
