Another snap from #isleofskye , this time by the Fairy Pools. The pools themselves are slightly overrated but it was worth the trip (and the rain) to see the Cullins draped in cloud #magic . 📷 @sarahdallas_mccutcheon
Flying into SEA I had an incredible view of 3 volcanoes at once! Rainier, Adams and St Helens. Last summer I ran around Rainier. This summer around St Helens and I have climbed to the summit of both. Maybe I need to find a route around Adams and climb it next summer... #pnw#volcano#ultrarunner#skratchlabsambassador#ultraspire
Mountain therapy in the beautiful Seattle area has eased the pain of being away from my family. So has the recent invitation to be a part of the Ultraspire Immortal Ambassador team. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of an amazing company. #ultraspire#inspiredbyathletes
Second part to previous post. "What's in it for you? Why do you do it?" Why choose to stay awake for 40 hours, run endless miles in cold, heat, dark, or rain when you don't have to?
Answer. Part 2:
3. I love that you against you battle, striving to dig deeper and come out different than you went in. Each time I learn I'm stronger and tougher than I thought, which is something nobody can ever take away.
4. Running is satisfying since the dance world is so subjective. In dance, you can be the best, but too short, too blonde, too whatever, and not get the role. Running doesn't care, you either win or lose, run fast or slow, finish or not. Living in a dance world where I can put in the work but be told told I'm not "enough" based on height or other subjective things is frustrating. However, in the back of my mind, I know none of them could ever get out there and do what I do. It's that internal knowledge that while I may not be "xyz" enough for their liking, I am a stronger, faster, tougher person than they could ever imagine.
5. This is probably the #1 reason I do it. My dad told us "in life, you accumulate two things: assets and experiences". Assets are temporary, while experiences are memories that last forever. Why am I doing it? I'm out there creating experiences so someday when I'm 90 I can know I lived a full life. I can tell my grandchildren of the time I ran for 2 days without sleep and hopefully inspire them to take on their own challenges, live fearlessly, do something courageous, take chances, and not just passively wait for tomorrow to come. You are the main character in your own life story, you get to decide what type of novel it will be. I want my story to be like the original Rocky movie, one of those books you put down and think "wow, if she could do that, maybe I can...." #running#brooksrunning#marathontraining#ultras#grind#motivation#ultraspire#fitbit#longrun#1stphormathletesearch#tuna200#warriorfuel#teamwarriorfuel#ultras#instarunners#runninggirl#inspire#why#challengeyourself#quotes#brookstrailhead#raceweekend#longdistancerunning#usib#runforacause#runhard
As the ocrwc comes to a close on an awesome year there are some people who need to be recognized for their help along the way. Avery and Ethan were awesome team members in England making it look easy, Kelly and Jeff were great support chasing us all over course this weekend. Sonia and Bella of course being supportive back home along with the rest of friends and family. CrossFit rush and ocrstrong have helped with the training throughout the year and Melissa Boufounos helped with the ocr nutrition plan. Without the help with these people I would not have had such a successful race season this year. Thank you everyone for helping me get three medals and keeping 2/3 bands ;)

Crappy run today. Felt super slow and couldn't settle into a rhythm. At least Hector had a good time.
Heart rate-based training is hard and weird. I've learned a lot about myself as a runner since I started training using my heart rate as a guide. Mostly I'm more present in the run. I've also noticed how things like sleep and mood can make a huge difference in how the run goes. I'm still trying to buy into the idea that going slow will somehow make me faster. I get to test out the legs at the @thegreatpumpkinrun 5K in 2 weeks. I should probably start looking for half or full trail-athon too....because the #yamacraw50k is coming.
