Yesterday I went for a follow up visit with my dietician Amy. Having a history of gut & genetic heart issues I knew I couldn't rely on luck for ultra marathon training. Ramping up to 80-90km a wk is going to take a toll on energy, so the aim is not to bc brain dead on training days. I am less worried about race day than I am about the next 8 wks of training.
In trail running there are lots of vegans and people going on fat adaption diets. It's confusing 🙄 I did a lot of reading and researched local dieticians to find one who's values aligned to what I was prepared to do. (ie not drink coffee with coconut oil...not eliminate food groups...not eat whacky foods or rely on packaged supplements). A nutritionist friend of mine told me to see a dietician. Dieticians have a science background. They're going to look at it from a scientific perspective and whole foods. I found Amy, who has an endurance sports background and spoke at a @runmelbourne event 2yrs ago.
After 5 wks of diet adjustment I actually have more energy, even with my Sat/Sun back to back runs. My only obsession is "have I eaten enough vegetables??" 🤣
Going into the peak block of training, we're going to be testing foods which I will take before and during the race.
Movie night last night but I wasn't the one having the Feature Length pour 😉(yes it's ok to have a normal life!) Last week was cutback training. This week I have a 44km weekend at Surf Coast 😎
So in the last weeks my weekly av. was around 10k😅😅😅 + 40-60hours of work + getting a lot of things done. 🇹🇭 is coming closer and closer and one of my goals is to leave this place 100% perfect. But I have a lot goals atm so I have to be very efficient + high on that mental clarity.
In this run I was pushing good at first. But ended up in a place I've been before. I had to walk ~10 seconds after 25k because I felt dizzy + like I had to puke + the universe was fooling me. But that's ok as long as I'm able to see the signs 😁😁🤣😅😅
✌❤ and good night 😁😁😁
I have been funployed for 3 weeks now and I am LOVING IT. I will have to start looking for a job eventually, but we haven't even unpacked our U Boxes yet. Then there is Hood to Coast and our road trip to Nashville... After the stress of my last job, I'm happy I HAVE to enjoy some time to myself.
