Lil test to see if the legs can survive the heat and the distance. Many a fly was swallowed and many a urge to jump in the river but 9miles in the @ealinghalfmarathon training bank is done. Now for CARBZ.
Officially an ultramarathon runner! 40 tough (and very warm) miles later!
Special mention to Jane and Jacky who I met around mile 3 and stuck with until the end. Don't know if I would've made it without you! Also great to finally meet @lochyrunner!
For my dad, grandma and the family I’ve never met because of cancer 💕
This ones for you #love#letsbeatcancer
10k #raceforlife Cardiff done 🙌🏻 finish time of 1:06, smashed my 10k record 💪🏻 very hot conditions again and my gammy knee has returned after running on grass 🙁
Massive praise for the efforts of all those involved today 💛 great event and so happy I’ve been able to help #fightcancer 💖
I got really upset today, just before my triathlon, almost to the point of tears. A young woman was nervous and her dad put his arm round her and said not to worry, whatever the time was, he was just proud she was there. It made me miss my dad so much. His support, his love, his patience when he had to fix my car or bike AGAIN. He would have been proud, not only of me for doing these events, but of the number of people I've helped from the money. Thank you for your donations, thank you for your patience as I bang on about this challenge. Thank you for your support as I battle my own challenges. Mental health is important, so talk about it. Keep the people we've loved and lost alive through words and memories. I like to think you can see me now dad, the person I've become. Because you made me this person, and I'll be proud of me in your absence.
What an experience! I finished my tri in just over 1hr30 today, a time I could not be happier with. I feel like I finally found my thing! I'm not a particularly fast runner, swimmer or cyclist... but I felt like I was flying today. Mentally, going into it, it was the hardest one I've done, but it was my most enjoyable too. Yay! #britishtriathlon
A VOICE FOR WOMEN (and almost a PB)
100 years ago someone fought for my right to vote. A woman I didn't know, who had no connection to my family but a woman who wanted to fight for my right to have a voice.
100 years on, today, I stood on the start line of a running race with 99 other women dressed in blue sashes standing side by side as a thank you to the women who fought for our voices to be heard and a pledge to women of the future that their voice matters.
There are still women across the world without the right to vote and @unwomenuk are fighting for change for women who still don't have a voice.
100 years ago the suffragettes used 'Deeds Not Words' as their motto and their action helped them to win the vote for women, on behalf of themselves and generations to come; however in 2018 women around the world are still four times more likely than men to be abused, intimidated and prevented from voting. There is still work to be done and I am so proud to have had the opportunity to run as part of the #Westminster100 team at the @VirginSport British 10K to support @UNWomenUK and their work for voting equality #deedsnotwords#IcanAndIAm
Long run Saturday as I am taking the 6 yr old out tomorrow morning to a family yoga class.
Sweaty seven miles. I tried to keep in the shade for as much of the run as possible as the sun was strong even at 9am. Again not thinking about time, just getting the miles in. There is no point trying to smash up times in the hot sun. Mileage was nothing like the smashers running @racetothestones (which has had me glued to instastories)
Spent this afternoon letting the biggest one do crafts and play games at Messy church. Yes I am being that mum in the corner staring at my phone, only for five minutes though.
Feels good to have completed my first triathlon. Ok it was a duathlon, swim was called off thanks to blue green algae in the lakes.
Pleased with my timing of 1:48:49 for
2.5k 🏃♂️ 27k 🚲 5k 🏃♂️.
// I was 25 mins behind the race winner.
Six weeks into triathlon and I find this new embarked sport already fascinating.

Taking a totally new approach to my training. Remember it’s NEVER too late to make adjustments to what you do. After some minor issues I’ve introduced a substantial stretching routine post training. Better late than never. #nofilterneeded#rehabilitation#recovery
I’m not a runner, never have been. I don’t find it easy, in fact I find it really bloody hard. But I’m starting to discover (very slowly) how amazing it can be. Getting out early when the roads are quiet, discovering new hidden country paths, feeling a sense of freedom away from the stresses of everyday life and the constant buzz of technology are all aspects of running I’m actually beginning to love.
This morning I got up early and ran 10km. That’s the longest I’ve ran for a long time. It wasn’t fast, but that didn’t matter. I did it without stopping and I’m really proud of myself! (I also didn’t hate it the whole time which is also a big achievement!). Something has clicked with me and running. I’m learning to love what it brings to my life. A few hours a week of being out in the fresh air, with my thoughts, switching off from the world. That’s not so bad at all 💛
Fail to Prepare, Prepare to Fail
I know this phrase is used a lot but it’s so powerful and 100% true
I’m trying to live by this phrase right now... I’ve got a stacked September, so the prep work has to start happen now. The miles, the time on feet, the easy runs, tempo, intervals all need to happen in the coming weeks for me to be ready to take on the challenges ahead. If not I would have failed before I’ve even began
Have a great weekend all, get out there and run so you can smash what ever goals & future challenges you’ve set yourself 🏃♀️🏃♂️
