Grilling to perfection, a multi part performance. Step 1: smoke out the neighbors (sorry). Step 2: get some sick slomo shots of sparks flying. Repeat as necessary. Step 3: wait for all the coals to get evenly heated.
SWIPE LEFT for the before👉🏻
This is my transformation. The first photo is from two years ago. I don't have any truly "before" photos (I hated taking pictures when I was out of shape), but the second one is from June of 2014 and was taken six months after (i.e. January 2014) I stepped into a gym for the first time in my life. From January to June, I had been primarily doing cardio (i.e. running on a treadmill) with some experimentation with weights. And as you can see, I had seen little to no improvement in body composition although I had lost 20 lbs. The last photo was taken 6 months later. I'd lost 20 lbs. between the two photos, but difference is I was lifting heavy weights 6 times a week! So, the next time someone tells you to do long cardio sessions to lose weight, think again! If you just want to drop pounds, then steady state cardio is fine, but I don't think anyone wants to drop pounds and still look fat. :D There's a term called "skinny fat" for that. You may not be overweight, but you don't have muscles either. 😉
Don’t get me wrong, HIIT is not standard cardio and can help accelerate fat loss if it is combined with weight training and good nutrition! But that is just the icing on the cake! Get the weight training in first and then if you have time and energy do the HIIT. Because we don’t want to have a six pack and yet be un-conditioned.

Waiting to hear back after an interview can be as stressful as the interview itself. The last thing you want to do is make a bad impression after you aced your interview.
Follow these tips for proper interview follow up protocol.
✔️Send thank you emails to everyone who interviewed you. Do this the day of the interview. Bonus points if you also mail a hand written thank you card.
✔️Ask the interviewer when you will hear back. Follow up once the date you were supposed to hear back has passed.
✔️Be professional with all follow up communication. Leave a voicemail and email with your contact information letting them know why you are reaching out.
✔️Be a stalker! This includes calling the day of or after the interview asking for an update or calling & emailing multiple times on any given day asking for an update.
✔️Ignore calls and emails from the hiring manager or recruiter even if you are no longer considering the opportunity. Politely let them know you are no longer interested. You never know when you may want to work with this company in the future.
✔️Mistake yourself as best friends with your interviewers. Even if you got good vibes from them, remain professional. Nothing is official until you walked in the office on your first day of work.

I’m usually not too public with my private life, but I started attending UCSD this year, and since then I have heard about UCSD’s corgi man. Recently, one of his corgi’s, Katie, died. There is a little shrine at the Sun God that I happened to find, so I left her some sunflowers. I think it would be really nice if we all went and left a little something, since she always brightened everybody’s day. RIP Katie, I never got the chance to meet you, but you were the best girl.
This morning, our meditation was all about mindful listening. About how important it is to be fully present in the presence of others, to listen to them not just with our ears, but with our hearts + minds, too. To leave space for them to truly express their thoughts + feelings, even when--especially when--we don't agree with them. Because as Thich Nhat Hanh says, "The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers." 🙏🙏🙏
How are you practicing mindful listening + fully giving your attention to those around you today?

Happy National Bosses Day! 🍻🎉 Shoutout to Heliogolds founder @jakehess for being a great leader. After working as a sales rep for other solar companies, he quickly saw the flaws in other solar companies in how they pay, treat and train their sales reps. He decided to change the game by creating a business model that benefits home owners and his employees for long term success that no other solar company can compare too.
