And there it is. Got back out there and smashed myself in my first triathlon back at the @ubcrec TriDu. I put up a new 10km run personal best of 41:08 which was the 6th fastest run split of the day and an overall time of 2:37:58 which was enough for an age-group podium.
A very special thanks goes to @steph_corker whose loud enthusiastic cheering helped me push through the hard second lap of the run, gave me a hug when I crossed the finish, and took this picture.
I ♥️ @victoriansummer because we have so much in common. And because we’re in different age categories. Final results: two age-group wins at the UBC triathlon 🥇 🥇 #YYCRunCrew#OutlawEndurance#ubctriathlon 📷: @alannicus
What an incredible day for a race! And I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it went. Not quite a PB for a sprint triathlon, but over 4 min faster than my time on the same course last year. The biggest improvement was in my swim - thanks Coach Ryan and @catalystkg! I won my age group, was 5th overall female and 28th overall. (That’s the highest I’ve ever come in overall standings, I think.) So grateful to @coachpowell.ca for all his guidance and support over the past couple of years. Excited for my races later in the summer once I’ve actually had a chance to switch my focus to short course training! #ubctriathlon#teampowell#catalystkineticsaquatics#swimbikerun#triathlon#triathlontraining#ironmantraining#iamsuperleague#f2cnutrition#f2cfamily
Me and the fam at #ubctriathlon . Thanks to @westpointcycles for setting me up with a new pair of shorts and jersey literally 30 minutes before my heat started 🙄 thanks to @standrea_dehaan for coming out! See you in Oliver 😄
Today was a BIG day. Today was a GOOD day. It was only a one hour ride at an easy pace but today was my first ride outside since being hit by a pickup truck last August (and my first outdoor ride ever on this bike). It has been a long road, and there is much work left to do, and I still feel a little skittish in traffic, but it felt so amazing to feel the sun on my back and the wind in my face again when riding. Tomorrow I toe the line at the UBC Triathlon (the same event that started this whole journey a few years back) and I couldn't be more excited (and nervous). #trihappy#triathlonlife#triathlon#ironmantri#ironman#ubctriathlon#ubctridu .
I just finished listening to the audio book for "The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results" - The book discusses the value of simplifying ones workload by focusing on the one most important task in any given project. Sometimes a difficult task when surrounded by technology and a seemingly infinite number of distractions! Being a bit of a squirrel myself, I schedule 30 minute blocks of time to do laser focused work (usually boring administrative stuff!) and then take a quick break before repeating.
If you know me, you know I love to add new activities into my free time for some balance. So excited to be attempting the swim portion of the UBC triathlon relay! I’ve always loved the water so I got tired of just watching Lishan’s swim training from the pool deck haha...thank you for showing me your ways @lishansharples . I’ve been working on it for a month now and last week I had my first swim lesson with a Seahiker instructor to check technique and work on my breathing, so here’s a glimpse into the first part of my swim progress! #ubctriathlon#relay#vancouver#seahiker#fitness#bigbootybuoy
What an amazing way to end the triathlon season! And probably one of the best seasons I've had ever! The community and group of friends I have met through triathlon is truly special. Much of this is due to the excellent race series provided by @dynamicraceevents (Angie & Joe = the best!)! Annnnd managed to PB my half-iron distance at 5:02, placing 🥉3rd in my category and 12th overall! A special thanks to all my tri friends @kazume @martin_le_machine @anisamori @kfpaule @vincedimanno @boury124 and fellow competitors like @brewcrewbc @zoomrunner that made this a memorable year. Thanks to @vf.pirie (bike fit) and @ckubas for the great physio work over the year(s). And @westpointcycles and @labicicletta for all their bike and gear help. And to my co-workers @kalevfitness for not rolling their eyes too hard when I had done yet another race over the weekend! You've all made this a very special year for me, thanks! 😊 #triathlon#ubctc#ubc#ubctriathlon#dynamicraceevents#swim#bike#run#sbr#triruleseverythingaroundme#vancouver#coaching#ironman#70 .3 #halfironman
Good news everybody! All of my riders that made it to the start of the Gran Fondo, also made it to the finish 🏁! It was a day full of adversity (🌧rain, flats 💨, cramps, cold, crashes 💥, the list goes on...) but everyone persevered the 122km! Congratulations to all my riders! You all worked so hard to complete your first Fondo!!! 📸credit @richardschmon. #granfondo#thefondo#vancouver#cycling#coaching#findfast @rbcgranfondo #myfirstfondo#ubctriathlon#ubctc#ubc
Cultus Lake Spring Triathlon race summary: No caption necessary 😂 But an awesome opportunity to point out how amazing volunteers at race events are! So many couldn't make it through events without them! And hey, everyone loves a good (wetsuit) stripper 😜 #findfaster#triathlon#wetsuit#vancouver#ubc#ubctriathlon @dynamicraceseries @westpointcycles @roka

2017 BC Sprint Duathlon Champion 🏃🏻🚴🏻🏃🏻 which means I get this rad new belt buckle to add to my wardrobe! The Penticton Triathlon Club put on a great event Bare Bones, with help from Barely Mill Pub. Thanks for the wine too! Special shout out to Christian Kubas Physiotherapist extraordinaire @gastownphysiopilates for getting me race ready this week!
Good ol' "Section T" post Sun Run! So great running into familiar faces at races! Awesome start to kick off race season. I'm also so excited for a number of my clients returning from injury, or returning to running from nearly a 10 year hiatus! Congratulations!
Heading out on the bike right before the rain decided to join us for the day. The lovely wet and cold conditions made for a tough way to shake off the cobwebs and kick off the triathlon season. Delighted to take first female in olympic distance and a big congrats to @sebastianmunro who took the men's win. Shout out to all that got out and raced in not so ideal conditions. I hope everyone has thawed out and warmed up. Races like these make us stronger 💪. Here's to an exciting year of racing!!
