The original Black Beauty was invented over two decades ago to imitate the heavy concentrations of midge pupae found in tailwaters below deep, bottom-release reservoirs. Don’t let the simplicity of this pattern fool you—it has consistently fooled selective trout all over the United States. While the original pattern performs extremely well, adding a clear, silver-lined glass bead never hurts! 🔥🔥🔥
I like the Peak Vise tool caddy more than I thought I would. It’s convenient and easy to use and has enough different hooks and holes that I can hang almost all my commonly used tools on it. My only issue is that I’m left-handed but tie right-handed so my tools start on one side and end up on the other. There may not be a perfect workstation solution but this thing at least keeps most of my tools hung up and out of the way.
Jujubaetis corner pocket... Charlie Craven is one of the greatest fly tiers of our time. Naturally, that means he has created some game-changing patterns for the fly fishing industry, like the Jujubaetis. For the fly recipe and/or fishing strategies go check out Tailwater Junkie’s website!
Check out Talysa’s work she’s really got it going on with art. Here’s a recent nymph design I’ve done.

Hump-backed tiger stripes and blue-haloed freckles make a brookie for me. This was a stellar day on a small creek in Colorado where all any fish wanted was a chance at my skating caddis pattern. I got to cast my @redingtongear 3wt Butterstick all day long. Punctuated with an afternoon sun shower and a near miss from a panicked mother duck rocketing out of a bush I stepped into, it was a very good day.
