“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work” -Thomas A. Edison.
My 1st DNF (Did Not Finish) .
Never thought that I'll experienced DNF in a race, and had to be taken to the hospital.
My 1st mistake was I was ambitiously chasing sub 3hours finish.
I calculated from my previous trainings and PBs that it was achieveable (with a little push).
Started with a good swim leg, I got 8minutes improvement from the D-1 swim test.
The bike leg was enjoyable and got avg 32-33 kph (until 30km).
Around km 31, I felt pain in both of my thighs. Between km 31 until 40 I took 2 crampfix and 1 saltstick. It didn't helped much but got me through the bike leg.
Upon dismounting from the bike, when my feet touch the ground, I felt tremendous pain due to cramps on my thighs and I fell. Luckily I did flying dismount, or else I'd probably fell with my bike between my legs.
I was in agony lying in the red carpet shouting for help, but no medic personnel was there, only several people who tried to help. Medic came after 10minutes and brought spray and ice, but it didn't help much. The pain was too much I can't even sit or move my legs.
The committee offered several times to DNF, but I refused because I wanted to finish the race.
I tried several times getting up, but every time I tried, the muscle spasms and cramps were acting up again, even spreading to the calves and my back.
After more than an hour on the ground and not feeling better, I decided to DNF.
I was taken to the medic tent and observed by doctors for more than 30mins. Apparently my legs were still very stiff and not getting better.
The doctor referred me to the hospital for rehydration through IV injection.
Never ever I thought that I end up in a hospital during race.
I executed all my hydration strategy. I drank 2 bidons filled with pocari, and 2 bottles of isoplus from WS. So I am still puzzled how come I was dehydrated (that bad) .
During the whole painful process I did some evaluation and introspection of myself.
I tried to remember what went wrong, and how not to repeat the same mistakes.
Until I get all the answers, I need to take things slow, and just have some fun
Lots of training lately for the big day, but this last week has led to 2 mild injuries. Resting now and hopefully I recover enough before the race. On my menu: massage, physiotherapy, ice packs, heat packs, streching.... #anyonecantri#tribuddies#jimbaRUN#tbhbit2018
Ride, Run, and 2 cups of milo iced. Bintaro HOT!
Udah lama banget gowes bareng @xtoredy.

First duathlon training with ah-girl in prep for her first kids triathlon event with @tribuddies . The bike leg was marked by a little accident in which she bumped into a parked car and then hit me from the side which left me completely face down on the road but in the end, we managed to run 1.25km followed by a 5.59km and then another 1.19km run.
Looking forward to more exercise session with her.
