New Blog Post!
For those of you who have never heard the story of Dick and Rick Hoyt, I urge you to watch this video! It’s truly inspiring and a story that will stay with you! They truly define the Ironman phrase #anythingispossible

Out of the water at my penultimate triathlon of the year at Ironman UK. It was one of my slowest swims of the season, but it was the motivation I needed. After this I fell in love switch swimming again, fell in love with the process and that resulted in my quickest swim of the season at Ironman Wales 📷 @iron_marty
The glow of a solid bike ride completed last weekend up Palomar with good company! (@ehouseoside)
My rationale Brain reminded me how much fatigue I was carrying (on the edge of overreaching / under recovery), but its safest & more fun to ride up Palomar in with a group. .
The goal was low HR and keep it steady. Anytime I wanted to accelerate - I held back because I didn’t want to burn the few candles I had and feel like crap 1/3 😩from the top! .
Sitting upright on a P5 TT bike for 2.5 hrs doesn’t feel that great on your sit bones or hands. Ouch! .
This was the most elevation gain in one ride this year! - Mt Lemmon was more attainable than I thought - especially on a road bike!! .
- I hadn’t been on my P5 for 3 weeks while sick and traveling around AZ🌵
- a lot of fatigue accumulated during the past few weeks of travel where I hiked the farthest this year carrying 37 lbs (into Supai & Grand Canyon), after not being able to run for three months due to a lateral hamstring tendon injury...⛰ . .
⚙️—> all to say I am glad I rode it as a training ride to become more fit - instead of not going at all.
To get a 9 mile run done on very tired legs, after waiting three months is good progress 👍 .....
How do you manage weeks of reduced volume? More soft tissue, ART, dry needling, yoga and sauna? . ...................
You know you’re a swimmer when .... 💪🏼. Lol. It’s getting close now. Only 2 more weeks left of big training. Not the time to miss workouts, but that’s exactly what happened this weekend. I had a nice long run, but I missed my long ride. Had to split it up into a 3hr and a 2hr session. NOT ideal, but got it done. Two years ago, I would have given up, with my all of nothing attitude. But not today, not now. I did the best I could and at least it was something. Something is better than nothing. Training has taught me it’s not about perfection, and hitting every single workout. It’s about coming back when you don’t. When you don’t want to, when shit is not going your way, when a million other things are competing for your time, when your body is tired or your mind is weak. It’s about telling all of that to STFU and keep moving forward. However slowly, however you can. Just keep pushing forward. Today, I literally carried my broken bike 2.5km to the bike shoppe to get it fixed so I could ride the trainer while my kid sleeps. I swam 4.2km cuz I won’t be able to swim tomorrow. And I rode 2hrs tonight when all I wanted to do was rest.... keep moving forward. #ironmantraining#roadtoironmanmalaysia#roadtoironman#triathlete#momlife#swimmer#strongaf
Nearly one year ago, I came home in the middle of the night after an on-call hospice nursing visit - sobbing knowing I could not handle caring for my hospice patients anymore, couldn’t give the families all they deserved. It changes you - seeing suffering.
My boys needed more of me. They are really men now, but I make no apologies for saying they are severely autistic. They are. I wish when they were little boys, I had someone - a mom, dad, or friend - who was there to help us more. That’s what the better version of me is. 23 years of Type 1 Diabetes, as well as my son (Jake) being diabetic is a challenge, but it’s not a death sentence. It can be managed and I choose that! Just recently, I heard the magical words for the first time, 'You are an IRONMAN" at Louisville. ME - an Autism mum x 2, US Armed Forces Veteran, & Type 1 Diabetic (plus professional hugger 🤗)! Pretty certain no one with those “credentials” has heard those words before!
My message to people is that - sometimes, people...people with disabilities look, act and just live different. Be kind. Be open-minded. Be patient. Give respect. Advocate fiercely, don’t stop until your voice is heard, and make no apologies for being the best version of YOU! ~ Julie Bockey [@bockeylife]

When a shorty tries a halfdistance!
Coach and athlete @engel_luk had a good race at swim and bike. With a tuff run he saved the second place and the ticket for the #worldchampionship at Samorin!

I did it! My first proper ride out on my beautiful bike. A nice slow ride around the village practising clipping in and out, turning and stopping. I've been so scared but I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to get out with @ironman_jayson for a ride soon. Thanks @jolangley36 for taking me through the basics xx
