WITH THE NEW DAY COMES NEW STRENGTH AND NEW THOUGHTS —Eleanor Roosevelt
The general desire or willingness of someone to do something. 🤔
For the last 3 weeks I have been experiencing a lot of “IRONMAN BLUES OR Post Race Blues” coming off of that HIGH... getting back to reality! For someone who hasn’t experienced this type of depression I would almost describe it like postpartum depression in a way.. anyway it’s time I snap out of it! I am choosing today to begin a new day! I do have other goals and things I want to achieve and it’s time to focus on them and stop dragging my feet. After dropping my son off at school, I ran 5 miles in the freezing cold! I didn’t look at my watch, I just ran. I climbed lots of hills in that short run but it felt amazing! What’s next for me as for a race?? Honestly I haven’t decided. But I am choosing to be happy today and stay motivated!
Why serious? 🤪

As a trainer and runner, I get a lot of questions from people about what shoes to buy if they want to start running. My answer is always, " It depends."
Many people choose athletic shoes based on how they look (style and color), and there's nothing wrong with that, but if you're serious about walking more or getting into running, you should consider other factors: shape of your feet, your running style, medical issues, terrain, etc.
The pictures are a 3-D scan of my feet. They clearly show that I have flat feet, the bunion in my big toes. The shoe store also had me running on the treadmill, which revealed a slight pronation on my left foot; so stability shoes would help me.
When shopping for athletic shoes, think form and function over fashion. Get an assessment from a reputable shoe or feet store. They can help guide you to the best options. Run happy!
Some fantastic thoughts in here.
A goal without a plan is just a dream - make a plan!
#GetShitDone#triathlon#triathlete#swim#bike#run#grit#DoTheWork#GSD#goals Posted @withrepost • @marilyn_chychota When you start dreaming up your next training and competition plan here are some thoughts I recommend to making it all work well.
One of the most important elements of creating success is to be sure that everyone in your life is on board.
When you map out your plan and goals, lay out the time lines, the commitment it will require and then be sure your life allows for that to happen. Ask yourself, do my goals match my lifestyle? In other words, does my family support my schedule and goals, does my work, social life and other commitments match my triathlon goals. Do I have
enough hours in the day, week, month to repeat the schedule required without my life falling apart?
Write it all out, including a timeline that has a wakeup time and bed time for everyday. Then ask yourself if it’s possible and repeatable? Can you honestly repeat that week in and week out and come out alive?
You may need to assess the distance you are training for depending on your other life commitments.
Some things we consider:
- How much commuting is required each day to do our routine?
- Is there a solid back up plan if the weather goes south?
Design your environment for success:
If you think that you need more motivation or more willpower to stick to your goals, then I have good news. You don’t. Most of us acknowledge that the people who surround us influence our behaviors, but the connection between the items that surround us and our behaviors is less obvious. The truth is that the signs you read, the things that are on your desk at work, the pictures hanging on your wall at home are all pieces of your environment that can trigger you to take different actions – regardless of how motivated you feel. With simple environment changes you will fin you don’t need more willpower or motivation to do it.
Triathlon can be a big commitment. But if you organize your sport into your lifestyle then it can be very rewarding. Set your goals and schedule so that your support crew is ch
“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. What do we do, we swim, swim, swim” -Dory 🐠🐟🐠 .
So cliche 😂 but so true. I had some long sets with times that I didn’t think I’d be able to do. I hit a few of them and missed a few. I’m pretty happy with the ones I hit! 3,000 yds to start out my Tuesday! ❤️❤️
Went for my first bike fit today with @swiftcycles - and was amazing! Flexibility and power analysis - combined with a Retul 3d video for riding profile assessment. Managed to make some major changes thanks to my increased flexibility over the last 2 years - credit here to @balanced_body_wellness for all my massages and stretching sessions. As you can see from the photo (top is old position, bottom is new) I'm now much more aero and more comfortable, while maintaining the same wattage - the video shows the finished result. Thanks to Jorrit @swiftcycles for the professional service and explanations. Watch out 2019, my "weakest" discipline is on the up! #tri365#triathlete#triathlontraining#fitness#cycling#cyclinglife#aero#bike#tri_community#2019goals
