I’m a Beast, a Badass & a BAMR! Today could have been filled with tons of excuses, I was achy due to PMS, I hardly slept, I stopped to use the bathroom before mile 2, my knee was achy at mile 8, it was windy at mile 11, my calf cramped as I climb the hill to mile 12, my feet & calves cramped as I headed down the final stretch. But know if those things mattered. I trained hard for the past 14 weeks, early morning speed work twice a week, lifting 3-4 times a week, long runs every Saturday morning. All this work resulted in a NINETEEN MINUTE PR during my 1/2 marathon today. 👋🏽Hello PR Gong #strongrunner ( time is in my story but it was a sub 2)
Had a crack at Cairns Crocs Lake Tinaroo long course yesterday - 1.8km 🏊🏽♀️ 75km 🚵🏾♀️ 16km 🏃🏽♀️ Had a terribly slow swim and have come to the conclusion that I need salt water to float my lead laden arse. Was so glad to get out on the bike and itching to try and make up time lost. Lots of hills, windy and big cane trucks made for some interesting riding but it was so reassuring to have the Coral Coast Riders who were out on the course supporting us and flagging pending traffic. Focused on staying well hydrated as the temps started to rise and aside from a dropped my chain on the last lap there were no major surprises so just got it done.
Kicked off the run feeling pretty relaxed until the back end of the course ...... hills ⛰😫! Any hope of maintaining pace went out the window so just did what the body allowed while trying to keep cool. Was able to finish strong and super stoked to end up on the podium with 2nd overall female and 1st age cat for the long course. Congrats to fastest female speedy Gonzales Megan Hendry who crushed the course - inspirational!
All in all it was an awesome day and well done to the Cairns Crocs, volunteers and Coral Coast Riders for making it such an sensational event. Congrats to all who participated 🙌🏽 #longcourse#cairnscrocs#longcoursetriathlon#triathlon#swimbikerun#laketinaroo#triedgecoaching#triedge#thecupcakecartel#cupcakecartel
Day 293 - Another up hill struggle today with another session missed since the IM. All about accountability though and am absolutely going to change that from tomorrow. Unfortunately a lot of it is to do with injury however, but with 2 physio apps now booked for the new three weeks I need to start moving again. 🏊 🚲 🏃🏋️ Each day at a time, now onto the next one
Swim bike run, Argentina style (and uni exchange student style for me, on a borrowed bike with no wettie and a makeshift race belt made out of - yep, that's a lanyard). But so stoked to be out there today doing what I love, not sure if you can tell #squintyeyes . Added bonus was getting 2nd, though I was more glad the prize didn't involve otter meat in a jar like last time. A hugeeeee thanks to @gemadelman who came and supported me, to @wpolimeni as always for organising the bike and my life basically, and to my friends here who are about to put up with my Tri talk for the next few days 🤗
Proud day yesterday. Awesome morning on the mic 🎤 @bribietri and the maiden race for the @energylab_triathlon race suits. The whole staff at Bribie rocked the loud shirts for the charity @hearandsay @triathlonqueensland

And that’s a wrap on another huge week! 💀😫 Sunday afternoons are when it all sort of accumulates for me! 😱 I typically tap out the rest of the day.. 🤤🤕☠️😬🤣
I was reminded today watching a friend’s story @melissa.truitt (check it out, amazing message). ❤️ A lot of what you see on my insta, and around social media in general is all positive, curated versions of life and training. On mine especially. 🙋🏼♂️ I’m super guilty of this. 🙇🏼♂️😅😍😋 I think it’s one of the only places in life that CAN be perfect if you want it to be. 🤗😅😍. So that’s totally fine, as well as showing the ‘real’ stuff too. Either way! 💙😺 •
However, today was far from perfect. One of those days that started out bad, and only got worse, 😰...a death march from the first step! - but we got it done. 😃☺️ And it happens a lot! I think we are all used to rough days if you are training hard enough.. 🙀🤕. But little snapshots of our workouts don’t really begin to cover what really went on. 🤯 I think this is a good reminder from time to time. 😍😅 Something to keep in the back of your mind when scrolling through your time line for motivation. 💪🏼 #sundayfunday#runhappy 😀😫
Another good 7+ hour training week ticked off. Been a bit under the weather with a borderline terminal case of man flu, so some of the sessions were a sweaty battle. My weight is still dropping, so I’m hoping to see some improvements on run times.
What a day for a #trailrun - 10 miles with 1200 feet of climbing. How did I get so lucky, beautiful California sun with 75 degrees in October! Building the miles up and slowly getting faster. Shout-out to my #jaybirdrun headphones for making the miles pass by quickly! Getting ready to rock #IMIndianWells703 in December! 😘
Pro Tip!!! Have you wanted to use your favorite road shoes in a triathlon but there’s no loop for a rubber band? ☹️. Use gorilla duct tape to create your own band and walla your favorite road shoes are now speedy transition triathlon shoes. Been doing this for the past two years with my favorite pearl Izumi shoes.
