In front of the entrance to the Boudhanath Stupa is a giant incense burner. Every morning and evening, hundred of people gather at the stupa to perform Kora (circumambulations). This Tibetan woman was offering a prayer at the burner before commencing her Kora. #nepal#travelphotography#travelportraits#tibetanbuddhism
The one who cooks near the forest
(Watching television in her living room)
I spent a few days at Kiyomi’s place at the end of the winter. A 73 years old divorced woman from Kansai, she now lives with her son in a remote country house in Hokkaido, in the middle of the rice fields near Fukagawa. In winter, snow covers the landscape and can pile up to the second floor of the house. She says Hokkaido’s nature is beautiful, but that in the end she gets a little bit fed up with watching the cycle of seasons.
Kiyomi cooks over and over for herself and for the others, would like her son to cut his too long hair, prays that her daughter has a child and winsomely slips a headscarf on her hair for her portrait.
Scroll left to check out my day today... (🎧on!) From waking up in the backcountry around the corner from an amazing waterfall and amongst the some of the biggest trees I’ve ever seen... To Hiking at elevation and being turned back by a massive snow field... To sea level and sunset on the water. Washington, you may have stolen my heart. ❤️ #MAKEadventurestories#thisiswhywetravel#travelingokenatez
