INVERIN 🇮🇪// Ok I know this sounds pretty obvious but I was blown away with how GREEN Ireland was 😂 Even in November! And I live in a super green place. 🍀
But. This day of our Irish road trip was one of my favorite. We meandered along the coast and stopped at random spots to walk down to the water or along the bluffs. We ended the night with sunset at the Cliffs of Moher which was like stepping in to Star Wars (And I totally channeled my best Rey vibes). Side trips and adventures like this are why I love road tripping so much. Being able to choose the long way. Do you like toad trips?
Introducing...the Virtual Family Explorers Club!
I’m a big fan of monthly commitments. I’m in several book clubs, and I like making goals of things to learn each month. Plus, I love those gifts where one activity a month is planned - my husband and I have done those for dates, and my kids have done that for Dan. They just made little coupons and it’s fun to pick one out each month to do together.
And I want you to get out and explore, too! So many of you have said to me that you want to get out more with your families, but you feel daunted either by the planning of it or the doing of it. I want to help! Because I promise it’s always worth it. These will be simple activities (no flying to India on this list) that you can do wherever you live and on any budget, but that will encourage you to get out and EXPLORE with your families.
Basically, this will work just like a virtual book club, but with adventure prompts. Go spend some time and build connections with the people you love anytime during the month, and try to learn something along the way. Then we’ll all share what we did at the end of the month. Sound fun?
Are you in? Here’s the list!
1. January: Go on a hike
2. February: Go to a museum
3. March: Watch a sporting event
4. April: Visit a historic site
5. May: Go on a science walk (look for bugs, stars, etc.)
6. June: Go to a national, state, or county park or garden
7. July: Play in the water
8. August: Have a picnic and listen to music (at an outdoor concert or play your own!)
9. September: Visit a religious site (preferably not your own!)
10. October: Find some street art
11. November: Visit a new-to-you library
12. December: Eat a food from another country (either at a restaurant or homemade!)
There aren’t many places that do Christmas like London.
But, Tampa might be a close second (maybe I’m biased). We have so much Christmas fun around Tampa this weekend that I’m starting to wonder how we are going to fit it all in.
Tomorrow we are visiting Santa at the @floridaaquarium and then we are going to Christmas in the Wild at @zootampa to celebrate the holidays with Holly Berry and her animal friends.
Sunday we are visiting all of the things that we haven’t made time for - the winter village downtown, the Christmas Trolley ride, and maybe even a walk looking for our favorite Christmas lights.
Are there a lot of Christmas things to do where you live?
Happy #alohafriday friends! We are home from Maui and had the best time together!
My hubs snapped this pic with my phone while we were having our family photos taken. I can’t wait to share some of the pics with all of you!
Have you tried taking beach photos with your littles? Let me just say, it was even more challenging than I had anticipated!😂
Afternoon tea at the delightful @coworthpark. The harp player totally upstaged my husband and me. Stayed turned for more on our stay at this Dorchester Collection gem where Prince Harry & Prince William stayed the night before Harry & Meghan’s wedding.
Traveling with kids is certainly harder than traveling with out them but watching them discover a new place is so worth the extra effort. Just look at that face!
I wrote a book post about how I find cheap flights including the $270 RT tickets to Ireland last January where we took this picture. Link in profile ☝️
What are the best flight deals you've found and how did you find them?
Since we have been back we have been telling our story to anyone that will listen! 👂🏼
When we tell people that we visited elephants the reaction most people give is “I’ve always wanted to ride an elephant!” 🛑
Most people don’t know the process for taming an elephant and the damage to the elephants spine by being ridden. 😳
There are much more humane ways to meet these magical creatures 🐘
Check out our blog to hear the whole story

Happy Friday! It WAS until we realized we have only 4 Fridays left on the island, counting today 😭 so bittersweet. 💔
Though we're excited for new destinations and adventures, we've never felt more at home than here...not even in Puerto Rico or even Illinois. 😂 (we actually said that, sorry fam!) I'll for sure miss the food, while Vic can't get over our view. I mean, we really lucked out with our rental! Top floor, floor to ceiling windows, great amenities, Nina's school down the road, our favorite lunch spot downstairs... 😭😭😭 We really don't want to give this place up!
Have you ever fallen in love with a destination so badly that you NEVER want to leave? 🙋🏽♀️🙋🏻♂️ Because that's how we feel. 😭💔

Hooray, after a long, cold, wet month in London we are off to Mallorca on Tuesday 🎉 Whilst it may not be all that warm, there will be beaches, sunshine (🤞) and most importantly YUMMY spanish food..... 😋
Talking of 🏖, ☀️ and 🥘, Mexico was just the best place ever 😍 #fbf
My heart is melting (now) .. The cuteness of this picture but not all was as it seems here.. . This was right on nap time. Whilst it was lots of fun tobogganing down that hill, when they need a nap, they need a nap! Shaun and I are still laughing at the aftermath of this shot 🤣.. Both of them were screaming on the way back, lying down in their sledges, arms sprawled out in their usual drastic ‘I’m tired’ fashion ... I face planted into the snow on the way up the hill, closely followed by Shaun who tried to save me. Meanwhile kids are still screaming next to us, people asking them who their parents are? .. There they are that’s them on the ground next to us’ 😂😂... I’m sticking my hand up.. ‘that’s me love’ .. OMG we were like a circus. Someone tried to help us up .. She was either doing some smooth criminal slide to us, cool AF, or she recovered a fall well.. Was literally hilarious thinking of it now.. All was calm when bellies were filled and naps were had .. 😍💜 @santas_lapland was magical for the most part but as you can imagine getting so many kids together in one place, doing heaps of amazing activities and lots of stimulation, come with dangerous ‘tired’ territory... Glad to say we weren’t the only family with kids loosing there minds a few times .. I always sighed a sense of relief when it wasn’t just us 😂😍💜💕🦌❄️🌧☃️⛄️🎅..
Just spend the last 2 days backing up and deleting pictures off my laptop because the sheer amount I take is ridiculous and my computer was over it. This might need to be a weekly thing instead of a biannual thing.
Side note: would love to upgrade my camera someday, but when I do it will be bittersweet. I’ve had my Nikon D3100 since before we had kids and it’s like an extension of me!
We are back in #rockingham#westernaustralia ! The last time we were here was back in 2003 and it’s just as beautiful as it was back then. We could totally live here. Good weather, beautiful beaches, dolphins swimming by and Australians are amazing people.
Where would you live if you could choose anywhere?
In the UK, Tenerife is often seen as a package holiday destination and many tourists stay within the resorts. The island is absolutely stunning though. Volcanic and arid in the south, tropical and green in the north, with the spectacular Mt Teide in the middle. This is our favorite restaurant for lunch on the edge of #barrancodelinfierno a great hike. The chicken and mojo at @restauranteotelo1 is divine!
We are currently having an absolute top time travelling around the back waters of Kerala. We have got our own house boat for 2 days and are setting sail on a short but epic journey. India is where we originate from and it's always an adventure coming back. If you're coming to India we would thoughly recommend getting a house boat and setting sail for a few days, we will fish, stop off at temples, check out some food markets and just have a bag full of fun! We live for times like this and are so dam grateful that we are able to take such a journey as who knows what's around the corner on this journey we call life ❤🇮🇳
NEW BLOG POST: How to prepare your autistic child for a holiday to Lapland.
When we booked our holiday to Lapland in February, one of the biggest questions to consider was when to tell The Bears.
Telling them too early could make them anxious and our daily lives a nightmare “Are we going yet” “When are we going?” “Are we going today?” “Can we go today?” “Why aren’t we going today?” “I want to go nooooowwwwwww!” However, leaving it too late means they won’t have time to prepare. YouTube is full of cute videos of parents waking up their children in the night to tell them they are going on holiday to see Santa right now. Not us. It would send The Bears into a spin and completely ruin the trip.
So we’ve decided to tell them this weekend – four days before we go away. Hopefully this will give us enough time to prepare them for what’s coming and share videos, booklets and social stories about the different aspects of the holiday.
For families with children on the autistic spectrum, preparation, or the lack of it, can make or break a trip.
Check out my new post (link in bio) for ways you can prepare your autistic child for a holiday to Lapland. How far in advance do you tell the kids you’re going away?.
One of the best things seeing Finn get awarded the "Gifted and Talented" cup at school was his reaction... topped only by that of Matt Boddy handing out the award. Priceless! Love Finn's good friend Annabell's reaction too. 👌❤
