Kavaledurga Fort |
The ideal term to describe the Kavaledurga fort is a slice of forgotten history amidst the Western ghats!
The village Kavaledurga is around 16 kms from the Thirthahalli, Shimoga. It is the best known for its fort, which was built in the 9th century. It is one of the lesser visited historical monuments in the state. The fort offers a decent trek and will help you to take some sweat out!
In the trek route, you will be witnessed Vishwanatha temple, Laxminarayana temple, Mylaareshwara temple, ruins of Darbar hall, a statue of Nandi, Swimming pool, a broken tub etc. However, the trek will not end here!
The pleasant surprise awaits to the one who takes the trouble to trek to the summit. Magnificent view of Varahi river, Western ghats and the splendid panorama of the natural beauty of the region make you fall in love with it! ❤
