“Welcome to Austria. €120 fine, please.” Immediately after crossing the Austrian border, from Italy, all traffic was routed onto a side ramp. We approached what I assumed was a border guard, and he was letting car after car just drive through, EXCEPT US. We learned the hard way that you are required in Austria to buy this road tax tag to use Austria’s roads. We had been on Austrian roads for half a kilometre! He says there was a sign just before the gas station, in 4 languages including English, saying we had to buy the tag at the gas station. Imagine a sign clearly saying all that in 4 languages. I didn’t see it. He told us everyone knows that it has been required for 20 years. “Uh, I’m from Canada.” Then a few km later we had to pay a fixed €11.50 toll, regardless how far we were going, to use the freeway. And the next day this tag cost us another €9 for 10 days. What a racket!! #austria#travelinaustria#traveler#traveller#travellife#travelblog#travelblogger#traveltips#drivinginaustria
Nature is every moment spectacular. How lucky we are to be able to park in the nature with few (but still a bit..) light from cities and gaze upon the stars.
First try ever to capture the stars and the van together. Took me 2 hours struggling and just just 2 "ok" photo's 😂. Kudo's to people with the beautiful star photo's! Now I know how difficult it is 👍 found my bed at 03:00 💤
Tomorrow into Italy! Let's find out how nature is there 😋
Together with a brother or sister T4 on a camping. 😋
So far we figured Austria isn't the best place to hold back on spending! Barely/not able to camp free and camping is pretty costly here. We miss places to sleep in nature so two more days in Austria and then through Italy to France! Hope to find more quiet (alone) spots in nature.
Still in Austria with amazing surroundings. Today we felt we were in the tropics, the butterflies seems to be pretty bold here. 😋 Our daughter was a very lucky puppy to have two of them around and on her for a while. Pretty big ones too! Better then school to learn about these creatures.
Surprisingly good free spot! We didn't leave today. Perfect place to leave for a hike, start a round on the bike and even many shops nearby! So done all of that today 😊. Amazing that it's free 👌 Now a stunning sunset while in the van 😀
Tomorrow back on the road again! More to see in Austria 🇦🇹
Pulled the handbrake in Austria! Mountains again! Missed those since we left Norway a few weeks back. This feels more like our habitat 😀 still 4 weeks on our journey, pfff time flies. First visitaustria and her nature after that we'll see!
Something every vanowner (of older Van's.. ) probably is familiar with. Never a moment of peace and always something to work on.
Had an annoying buzz when the vent was on. Took it all apart, cleaned and greased it. Seems to be solved. I'll guess its temporary but we'll see. 😄
Always satisfying to have something fixed, love that on older Van's! 😜
I met one guy at the airport and I told him that it was my birthday on Friday!
He left me for like 10 minutes and came with this card! 😂😂😂 and yellow card, because of my yellow coat and vintage style hahahaha 💛
Oh, gosh! I'm in love with this beautiful city and people! 😍
