Chicago Marathon selalu menarik untuk diamati. Pasalnya sudah dua tahun ini menjadi ajang unjuk kehebatan bagi pelari papan atas selain Eliud Kipchoge. Kipchoge sudah terlalu digjaya dan sulit dicari tandingannya, mungkin hingga 10 tahun ke depan.

Tahun 2017, Gallen Rupp menjadi juara dan tahun ini Mo Farah. Rupp Amerika tulen, Farah meskipun berdarah Somalia tapi hijrah ke Inggris sejak masih kanak-kanak. Mereka berhasil mengalahkan pelari cepat asal Afrika. Di sisi lain, pelari Jepang Suguru Osako berhasil finis ketiga sekaligus memecahkan rekor nasional dengan waktu 2.05.50 jauh di depan Yuki Kawauchi yang finis ke-19.
.
Rupp dan Farah berhasil mengalahkan para pelari Kenya yang lahir, hidup, dan berlatih di ketinggian dan disebut memiliki gen terbaik. Sedangkan Yuki yang juga disebut-sebut pelari dengan genetik terbaik di Jepang ternyata tak mampu menempel Suguru hasil didikan Oregon Project.

Dari kasus ini kita juga bisa menarik pelajaran bahwa faktor terpenting dari sebuah kesuksesan dalam olahraga lari adalah latihan dan gaya hidup kita bukan genetik atau faktor kosmetik (baca: merek sepatu, jam, fashion) . I needed to find another passion and purpose, and that’s now taking shape in the form of weight lifting and strength training. Today I put up a 3RM on incline bench of 175 pounds. Nothing special, but 6 weeks ago I was struggling with 145. The greatest of walls were built one piece at a time!

Who else trains legs on fridays??? Do you enjoy leg day? Or it gives you goosebumps?

Squats or deadlifts or both?? I like to do a combo of squats, deadlifts and lunges along with some cardio as warmup and pilates as finishers on Fridays (2nd leg day of the week). Only lunges among them are body weight.

I usually opt for compound moves and sometimes incorporate bicep curls, or front shoulder raises or overhead tricep extensions with squats because #jillianmichaels stresses working big muscle groups with small ones to maximize the impact.

I choose quality over quantity!!! No killing myself for hours in gym cz i train smart rather than hard.

Grace (tengah) awalnya hanya latihan seadanya saja. Hingga akhirnya ia bergabung dengan Pocari Sweat Pacer Team. Di Pocari Pacer, lajang alumnus universitas bisnis beken di Amerika ini banyak belajar. Tak hanya itu, ia juga rutin berlatih bersama dengan teman-teman pacer lainnya.

Perlahan tapi pasti kemampuan larinya meningkat. Di Combirun, minggu (7/10), Grace finis 10K dengan catatan 49.42 (PB) dan berhasil menyabet podium 3 wanita umum.

Ia sendiri hampir tak percaya karena lari tanpa beban. Dalam grup chat Pocari Pacer ia mengaku kemampuannya terasah setelah gabung dengan Pocari Sweat Pacer. "Hasil latian bareng team pocari nih, sebelumnya cuma pelakor (pelari keliling kompleks rumah)," tulisnya penuh canda.

Tahun depan Grace manteb ingin ikut maraton dan siap untuk tekun berlatih.

A little extra core work today with my boo!  My husband has a deteriorating disc in his lower back that over a year ago was debilitating and would put him out for days at a time.  Not being able to pick up our boys or help around the house. .
Adding core work has not only helped him strengthen his core muscles but helped support his lower back and stop the spasms and throwing his back out. .

Dan saya juga lagi menjalani prog RuN untuk FM Borton. Dengan full support dari rekan2 @derbyrunners untuk lomba HM ini. Saya berbincang dan konsultasi terlebih dahulu dgn juru taktik @andriyanto.run . Sebelum turut serta di lomba ini. Setelah mndapatkan lampu hijau🚦dari beliau, saya hanya mentargetkan finish happy dan nyaman saja sekaligus ^uji emisi^. Pada saat lomba dengan berbekal pengetahuan tentang rute UI yg sudah di luar kepala (jalur road tapi yaa..bukan ke hutan TRAIL🙊),saya dan @yogieariprabowo berencana untuk main kereta2an 🚅🚅 dan mentargetkan minimal 10 besar.. biar dapet kalung “potential winner”haha..😂😂ngarep(trnyata gak ada jg kalung nya) cm stiker saja ditaro di BIB...
Lomba dimulai, kami memulai dengan pace yang sudah direncanakan.. Kita tidak terpengaruh dengan pelari2 lain nya yang langsung nge-gas saat flag off🏁. Hemat tenaga dan bahan bakar akan lebih mudah dalam menyelesaikan lomba ini. KM 3 yogie memutuskan untuk naik kereta lain. Alhasil saya sendiri menyelesaikan rute ini sampai akhir lomba😑😑. Dengan Power of Loneliness yang cukup, saya berhasil mengalahkan pertarungan mental dengan diri saya sendiri, yang sudah menggoda dari awal untuk melambatkan daya pacu kereta.

Not my PB but still can 😁 after the Race. Well, everything was according to plan until it reached 6th KM (Technical matter happened but never surrender til the end). Champions are not the ones who always achieve target, Champions are the ones who get out & try and even try harder next time!

Quick tip:
If your lower back isn’t recovering from deadlifts you can always switch to the hex bar to reduce some of the stress. Personally I’ve been focusing on a few other lifts like the front squat and the press quite aggressively recently and the overall workload has felt a bit of demanding of me which is why I switched over these for the time being ✌️
