I’ve got some not so good news on Macho. Yesterday, whilst getting inside, Johanna noticed Macho wasn’t walking smoothly. I made an appointment with Hugh up in South Hoof yesterday and today we got there. Macho was walking even worse. Hugh doesn’t know what it is yet, even after I showed him the place I think it’s coming from. Hugh said it isn’t your average lameness, even if it is that. He’ll do some more tests to explain the limping. Right now Macho is resting in one of the stalls on South Hoof 😕.
I don’t think I’ll be able to participate in the First Endurance Competition, organised by @jorvikendurance anymore, because I was supposed to go with Macho. I’m sorry to @jorvikendurance , @ivy.pearlclover and @mel_sso.xx ♥️.
I’m back home, because I am competing in my own competition: the Silversong Competition! Even though I got some bad news, I’m very excited to participate with Windspell. Even though I’m not competing for the price, it’ll be alot of fun! 🏅
My sister, Hailey Silverclaw, has made an Instagram account, so go check her out! Her horse, Snowflake, is the mother of Maxwell! 😍

Monday 10 December 🏡
1. This is where my Grandma and I live. We have a nice and big garden, this way Snowflake can graze around when we’re not at school and the weather is okay (which it usually is). It’s very cool having your horse so close! ☺️
2. This is the school building with the classrooms in them. The classes we have are:
> 1/2 of a year: Food for horses, what’s good for them and what’s not.
> The other half of the year: How the horse is build. Their bones, muscles and organs. > Dutch, because we’re Dutch.
> Management, for example to be able to run your own stables in the future.
>1/2 of a year: Helping a veterinarian (Thomas Moorland).
> The other half of the year: Helping a farrier (Conrad Maarsden).
3. The stables. This where the horses are when we have the classes. There’s also a trailer we can use for competitions, clinics, etc.
4. This is where we’ll have the farrier classes.
5. The dressage arena. We also have a showjumping arena, a pole-bending arena, a competition place for racing and cross-country course.
9. The centre of the campus. This is where there are shops runned by students from the 3rd year (I’m in the 1st year).
That’s all! I hope you liked this little bit of information! ♥️
Coach, Sam Williams, gives light into his ‘Life as a Neo Pro’ in 2016 with One Pro Cycling.
We speak to one of the team’s youngest riders Sam Williams about life as a neo pro.
For those who might not know, quickly explain the term neo pro?
“Basically a neo pro is a term used for anyone under the ages of 25 who is competing in their first year as a professional cyclist in Professional Continental level cycling or above.”
How have you found the step up from Continental level to Professional Continental level cycling?
“It has been great so far, I mean it’s still early in the season yet but I’ve definitely developed as a rider and I’m learning so much as I go along. My classics campaign has been intense but I’ve loved every minute. I know the classics are where I can really shine.
Some of the races I’ve completed this year have been really difficult but it’s great to have experienced riders on the team to show me the ropes and give me advice.”
What have been the biggest changes you’ve noticed between Continental and Professional Continental?
“Pro Conti level racing is much more demanding, especially in distance. My training schedule has seen the biggest change this year and I’ve been working closely with my Coach to physically prepare and adapt for the longer, harder one day and stage races on our calendar. There is also a stronger hierarchal system here at the top level. Unless you want to have a hard time in the peloton, you need to respect the big names when you’re a young rider.”
What have been the biggest challenges?
“The biggest challenge has been the traveling and coping with fatigue. You can be on the road for a long period of time with little recovery between races. I can definitely see the older, more experienced riders cope with the recovery better than us Neo-Pros.”
What advice would you give to a young rider who aspires to be a Neo Pro?
"I know it’s a cliché, but don’t give up! I have had low moments where I didn’t think I was ever going to make it as a pro, but my drive and perseverance has now paid off. Always show the will to learn and improve. Teams like it when a young rider is respectful and takes on feedback."

Another CX race in the books. Didn’t make it to #cxnats this year. Maybe next year... Still a few events to go here in NM.
Rode a #canyonbikes in #rapha kit and #giro shoes using a #wahoo#elemntbolt to track my progress.
See you next Sunday.
