Waking up to the sounds of war raging on all around me..... my body felt as if I had taken the full blast of the rocket fire. Not even five minutes ago the night was peaceful as I took watch for my position. The ground shook as multiple blast tore the ground around me. My hand shook from the pain as I stumbled to get to my feet. Still in a daze, I could see something piercing the clouds of smoke before me. The sound of my weapon went off instantly as I saw clankers charging towards me only to fall to the ground. Breathing deeply I felt my body give way towards the ground.... "This isn't how I die..... tonight isn't my time... now get up soldier and fight!" Finding the strength to stand let alone fight gave me all that I needed. Excepting the pain as weakness I fired on more clankers as I was now trying to find my squad. Screams and the sounds of war filled the air as my comms kept going off becoming static noise than actual communication. As I gained my bearings I ran towards what was left of my position. Seeing only smoke and fire, it had been completely destroyed. My brother's hadn't survived the blast. More red attack flares lit up the night sky as I could see someone moving. A survivor! Making my way towards him more clankers were coming "Get Up Trooper!!! Tonight isn't the night you die, Now Move It!!!!" Only able to raise his arm, the sound of multiple clankers came crashing in only to fall to my blaster. Using the comms on my brother's arm I called for a gunship. Moments later I could hear the sweet sounds of a gunship coming to get us out of there. Turning on my helmet light I grabbed my brother and ran. Sounds of blaster fire came from behind me as red blasters hit near me almost knocking me off of my feet. The gunship's doors opened as I got closer. "We're gonna make it! Just hold on brother.... just hold on!" I could hear the clankers all around me as I ran dropping my blaster.... Falling into the gunship to take off I felt relief as we made it! The pain in my body coming back made me drop to the floor only to look at my brother. "Live to fight another day" were my last words before the pain made me pass out to the sounds of the gunship.
