Spent the morning on a free* walking tour of Copenhagen. I learned quite a lot about the city's history and got to see all the highlights, including the very picturesque Nyhavn, which is definitely super stereotypical-looking for Scandinavia. *not really free because they beg you for tips
This is how we ended our first day of french holidays yesterday ... we went past it as we arrived at the beach and I tried very hard all day to dissuade them from it ... hours later and as the picture shows, they won and I lost! £7 got them a plastic watch with a sticker as a dial and a barbie look-a-like with only half a head of hair! The whole time I was thinking how much stuff they could get from the pound shop with £7 but, for them it was so much fun and that satisfaction of doing what they wanted.
Note to self: some money spent will be only for a minute of fun and getting a pic to remember it!
When you accidentally block Big Ben out of the picture 🙈😳.
Right now, Big Ben (or Elizabeth Tower) is having some major renovation works so even if Lauren wasn't in the way, you still wouldn't be able to see much of it as it's covered in black scaffolding! So Sigrid technically still hasn't seen Big Ben yet haha ⏰
Day 1 in Prague: The Astronomical Clock gets maintenance every 100 years which happens to be this summer.; the Jan Hus monument; a terrific gallery show of works by Mucha, Dali, and Warhol; two of three wax museums with one bring really good (Edith Piaf) and one being delightfully bad (Freddy Mercury; and the Powder Gate, which is just down the road from my hotel. Tomorrow: marionette shopping and a marionette show #Prague#czechrepublic#travels#summervacation#waxmuseums#touristtraps
Archive: continuing the exploration of Kodak Photo CD scans brought back to life with the app, pcdMagic. This was shot at “South of the Border”, an unusual tourist attraction on the North Carolina/South Carolina border on Interstate 95. It is known for its tacky highway signs and the expression “Pedro Say’s.” This image was featured in a mid-nineties @communicationarts Photo Annual. @donbull recently published a picture from SOB that reminded me to go find mine. .
Renting this ultra cool retro towable RV from our new pals Heidi & her son Bryson while staying @zenergeneq horse sanctuary in @seminolecofl is 1 sure fire way to avoid any #touristtraps & to connect with natural beauty of #centralflorida @gorving #rvlife#vanlife#disney ? #nope
Sometimes ya gotta go to those spots that everyone knows about.. everyone knows about em for a reason.. this spot tulantongo is a hot spring in a limestone cave. You can go over 100 meters into the earth, the entire time swimming in hot water.. it's magic.. I don't normally support people tearing apart nature for a profit, but, I'm in Mexico, it's their choice. It's my world, sure, but it would be crazy to avoid this place just cause it's a MAJOR tourist attraction.. #takemoreadventures#solotravel#adventure#aquaazul#travel#hotsprings#optoutside#touristtraps#waterfall#cascada#mexico 🇲🇽
⛲️Sometimes you just have to hit up these monuments at night, especially if you’re visiting a country during peak season and you’re a sleepy head like me, who can’t get up in the morning 😌💤 ....
These spots are swimming with tourists during the daytime, you can barely move 😳 let alone take a picture 😩📸
When you visit Trevi Fountain ⛲️, don’t forget to throw a coin with your right hand over your left shoulder. Legend has it, this will ensure a return trip to Rome 😉🛬🇮🇹
Goofy dancing to the theme of (not so) INSTAgramming:
A #birthday#poem I typed up on my phone, with every intention to post, lost in my notes, digitally filed away by the day(s). However, life treated me with the presence of this foreva friend - visiting –
She stood in my apartment kitchen, as I read:
Back before Instagram (we’re so old we can say that now)
we took pictures with pink colored cameras in college
partied on weekdays, dressed in silly themed clothing..
walked the streets of a small town covered in snow.
Trapped in a globe. And totally shaking things up.
As our souls began to develop and unfold.
6 years later,
we’ve left that cold dot above a New York map—
Trading late night library sessions, books, and lets be real,
for life lessons; the importance of sleep
but, most specially, reoccurring
Weekend adventures on Manhattan streets
to choosing passports to London
and train seats
Typing from Nashville—
Reading a calendar note that says
“Courtney G visits!!”
Reminds me of a time back before Instagram
when we thought 28 was old. When we
never thought we’d live this far apart.
But here we are.
In my Tennessee kitchen.
Us dancin’. 🔮
PS: I really wanted to include pics from our college days, but that would require me to dig through Facebook & I already feel like I’ve spent too much time trying to get these on here. Love you, Court! @cornyyg... Until next #adventure ... dance choreographer always wanted 😉😂
PPS: Thanks for making these times GREAT times.
PPPS: do we still #flashbackfriday ? To last Fridays? Signing off as the pastgram pro ;)
