I returned the Mitutoyo Indicator for the Interapid one. After using my buddies Interapid, I got accustomed to it and I love the shape and the adjustability it has with the swivel top. Also really like the design because I can pick up holes , and raise the indicator dial parallel to the part and see the dial 360 Deg without needing a mirror to see it when it faces away. Also like the small 1.2” dial. Such a small thing, but it goes a long way. #machinistlife#cnctools#brownandsharpe#tesa#interapid#instamachinist#cncmachining#cnc#diycnc#tools
I was able to get some down time today since Big Bear. On another line, I receive on average 30 - 40 messages per day about the kits I use for cycling work and in the hanger etc. I really do enjoy talking with guys and gals around the world who are piecing together their own kits and employing them to the best of their abilities in their respective field (most of them bike mechs). Many have asked about the Buena Vista pack @cocoonbags sent me a month ago. I am not really a reviewer nor do I think my account is about products or reviews. However, if it is something you can use in your daily life, I assume it wouldn't be useless.
Right away, I am using a product not in its intended design. The Buena Vista backpack is really, really small. It doesn't even hold a waterbottle. Its true design is to be a minimalist backpack for your laptop and tablet. The intergrated Grid-It system is meant for USB cords, SD cards, and portable hard drives. So how does a mechanic use it? Convert it into a Jump/Pit kit. With a few races and events this month, I have used the backpack more often than my Pelican box. During Big Bear I didn't open my toolcase. I strictly just worked out of the backpack. As for my configuration, the Grid-It compartment holds USB cords, eTAP chargers , external batteries and a Di2 charger while in the main compartment holds a medium Grid-It ,12x8, board with basic tools. I've added a Samsung tablet to the kit recently and its total weight comes out at 8.6lbs. Not at all heavy when transporting to various locations.
Overall, the Buena Vista pack is light and compact for your office needs. However if you are a mechanic on a team, Neutral program or event, it may be on the small side. For me, it holds everything I need in the hot-seat or pit area with a tiny bit of room to add 2-3 small tools. If you can't fit everything on a medium Grid-It, your mileage will vary.
All ready for the AV company to come and install speakers in the base cabinet with tv above. Looking forward to heading back to fit a glass top and to see it all finished. Working with @florencedebraceydesigns on this one. Better photos to follow!
