By the tomb of the Ottoman sultan Mehmed The Conqueror in the Fatih Mosque complex in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Mehmed The Conqueror captured Constantinople from the Byzantines in 1453. This was a significant year marking not only the end of the Byzantine Empire but also the end of the Middle Ages and the flowering of the Renaissance in Florence. This tomb is the most opulent tomb of all the Ottoman sultans and is even ringed with glass panels hence the reflection in the pic.
This cenotaph for Jai Singh II is absolutely mesmerizing with the intricate white marble carvings and dome that is supported by twenty ornate pillars. It is hard to comprehend that this is a burial sight.
I went inside a prehistoric archaeological site today in Ireland known as Newgrange. This is an ancient Irish passage tomb from 2,500 B.C. Out of respect for those buried within, no photos or video is allowed inside the tomb. There is a hole above the doorway known as the “roof-box” which is aligned perfectly with our sun. On the winter solstice (December 21st), the sun will shine through the narrow hallway of the tomb for a mere 18 minutes lighting up the chamber. This was an excellent tour I went on and there are still several questions remaining about the prehistoric people who built this tomb. I highly recommend it if you find yourself in Dublin, 🇮🇪. (👽?)
I’ll post some more pictures and video I recorded here in the next couple days.

(AlUla old town or ghost city )
Thousands of people lived and died in this place . Yet these compact-mud houses had been stable through centuries to declare their victory upon time. Most of the these houses were rebuilt over centuries . Some of the old stones used in the buildings came from ancient ruins and they still have Lihyanite marks on them.Of course no one lives in these mud houses anymore but there are great efforts to preserve the site.

A Mahafaly Tomb in southern Madagascar - The Mahafaly built dramatic and huge tombs for their chiefs and leaders. Traditionally they were intricate carved wooden totems but now it’s anything from boats, planes and taxis. The style of the tomb is usually connected with their job or passion. On one tomb I saw a painting of Rambo! #mahafaly#burialground#tomb#graveyard#madagascar
