Wanted to share our 'Happy Healthy Banana Balls'. It's an old recipe my sister passed on many years ago and it's certainly a win with the kids! .
1 x cup pf desiccated coconut
1 x cup almond meal
1 large ripe banana
1 tsp of cacao powder
5 drops organic vanilla essence
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
(Optional - 1/2 cup organic sultanas) .
Blend all ingredients in processor.
Roll into balls and in coconut.

Trying to make somewhat healthier cookies for my chocoholic toddler. This one tastes like banana bread in a cakey cookie form by using a ripe banana as a base and only a tablespoon of sugar for 16 cookies! With the addition of hemp hearts for added protein and fatty acids, Naia is getting a nutritious treat with her chocolate chips!
Happy Monday! Yesterday Miss A ate nothing but cupcakes for breakfast, lunch, and snack - dinner was Chef Daddy's bomb smoked short ribs, which she would only eat if I fed it to her with my fingers like some kind of rabid monster. I hope her teachers have better luck with her today! Leftover smoked short rib with corn on the cob, which she will only take two bites of before she throws it at a friend, delish watermelon that's only kind of rotten, a new berry medley (miracle of miracles!), and crunchy roasted broccoli.
Me: Do you want blueberries?
Him: No, I want sar-DEEEENS! I want sardines, mama! [video starts...] They’re my favorite! 🐟🐟🐟
Seriously, I can’t make this stuff up. If you scroll back through my profile and see the photo of 4 half-eaten bananas, you can see not everyday is a day for sardines, but I still think it’s cool that his taste buds like “non-kid foods.” 🤷🏻♀️
I can only guess that this is on some level related to flavor exposure in utero, introduction to a wide variety of foods from a relatively young age (during the “flavor window” that research suggests ends before the first year), and pure chance. Whatever it is, I’ll take it! 👍
Pork Ball Wrap! 🌮
This delicious, easy and speedy supper was a hit with the boys and it is a quick fire way to get extra veg into them. They are now used to using little gem lettuce leaves as a wrap instead of flour tortillas. 👩🍳To 500gm grass fed minced pork from @seabrightsbutchers I added 2 grated carrots 🥕, a good handful chopped flat leaf parsley, 3-4 finely sliced spring onions, 1-3 cloves crushed garlic, a good chunk of finely grated ginger, 1 sliced, seeded fresh red chilli 🌶. Spice wise, add 1 tsp cumin and 1/2 tsp ground coriander or 1.5 tsp homemade 5 spice. Either way, loaded with immune boosting deliciousness. Add a raw egg and 1tsp maldon salt, 1/4 tsp pepper. This should take about 5 minutes. 👩🍳Get your hands in and squelch about. I do this armed with marigolds. Make golf ball ⛳️ sized patties. This takes another 5 mins. I double batch and make one lot for supper and the other lot go straight in the freezer on a tray so that I can bag up for an easy supper another night. 👩🍳 I pan fried them in coconut oil as time was short - this took about 10 mins. Had I been more organised, I would have baked in the oven for about 20-30 mins at 220C. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Sometimes I think we worry that these flavours are too strong for young children but I always think about children in countries where they have chilli in their breakfast congee or Dahl for example. It is all about giving it a go. Sharing food and making sure that if it is to be tasty enough for them, it needs to be tasty enough for me too. Also, this are mini burgers - what is not to like?! Make salads and mayo as an extra treat if you have time. 😘
Today, our little girl is 18 months. Today is also the day that she learned how to say "No" as clear as a bell. I hoped this day would never come, in fact we would go out of our way to use other phrases other than "no" when needing to correct her. But, here we are. Everything is a big. Fat. NO. We had to find something to say yes to and here's our answer. 🍊

Protein pasta...no meat necessary💪🏻! Don’t worry if your little one prefers the plant life. They can get plenty of goodness without chicken, beef, and fish. You just have to be intentional! For example, choose lentil pasta over wheat pasta, and add some @manitobaharvest hemp hearts, for some tasty #plantpower !
Oh!☝🏻 just to clarify, I am not anti- meat. I believe in choosing high quality, ethically, and sustainably- raised meats and fish. And I also believe in letting every person choose for themselves how they wish to feed their family, without judgement, opinion, or shame!! ❤️ I mean... raising healthy eaters, yes I want that!! Baru kali ini nyobain resep saus keju ala Richeese. Niat banget mau nyoba resepnya, sampai harus nitip bubuk keju dulu dari Indo karena disini ngga ada yang jual 😂 Emang ngga sehat kalau sering-sering, tapi kalau sesekali sih anggap aja “treat” ya ☺️ Bagi yang mau coba, resep ini takarannya kira-kira, jadi pas masak nyambi tes rasa supaya pas di lidah ya 🙏🏻 Untuk yang puasa, bisa bikin pas sahur atau setelah buka karena bikinnya super cepat kok hihi.
🍥 200ml susu cair full cream
🍥 100g keju cheddar parut
🍥 2-3 sdm bubuk keju (seperti bumbu kentang goreng)
🍥 1 kuning telur
🍥 2 sdt tepung maizena
🍥 air secukupnya
🍥 di atas api sedang, tuang susu secukupnya ke dalam panci. Masukkan keju cheddar parut lalu aduk hingga meleleh (❗️masukkan kejunya coba setengahnya dulu supaya tidak terlalu asin)
🍥 tambahkan bubuk keju, aduk rata (❗️ini juga coba masukkan setengahnya dulu ya)
🍥 campur kuning telur dengan tepung maizena lalu tambah sedikit air. Aduk sampai larut. Tuang ke dalam saus, kecilkan api, lalu aduk hingga mendidih dan mengental
🍥 tes rasa. Kalau masih kurang asin, bisa masukkan lagi keju cheddarnya ke dalam saus yang masih mendidih (aduk cepat). Kalau kurang bubuk kejunya juga masih bisa ditambahkan sampai rasanya pas 👌🏻
Arga makannya pakai chicken nugget dan nasi. Enyak 😘

I was a little worried feeding my 6-month-old solids while we were in Bali. Sure we stayed in a big resort, but Bali belly in a tiny babe is a risk I didn’t want to take.
So I packed a bunch of organic @bubsaustralia pouches which she loved! I’m starting her on real food and loved that they had so many options that are organic without cereal fillers. Her fav was pumpkin, corn and chia seeds.
Here she is loving a mouthful with a little probiotic powder on it. Perfect. 👊

✨ Even though Phoenix sees Jordan and I eat a lot of vegetables, he isn’t always keen on trying new foods. It has to be his own time. Just this week he finally came around to cucumbers, so I immediately went to the store and stocked up because I wanted to take full advantage. 😂
When it comes to dinnertime, I’ve learned it’s better if I don’t overwhelm Phoenix with too many options. This is why I love deconstructed meals.
Taco salad is a favorite of mine because it’s the perfect canvas for vegetables — the toppings are endless: beans, corn, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, etc. While Phoenix isn’t able to eat lettuce yet, he will eat the beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers!
@unclebensusa Spanish style rice adds a nice extra boost of flavor.

🍛Sptnya memang sehari2 hari kerja selalu disuapin sama pengasuh2nya. Hari kerja mama papae uda ga ketemu pas di jam2 makan
🍛Giselle biasa ga demen di highchair. Makanya kl weekend di rumah juga sering disuapin sama kita: krn makan ga di highchair repotnya 2x lipat krn anaknya bs mondar-mandir jalan2
🍛Nah kl weekend jg kadang mama papae kl lagi feels tired or busy with all housework stuffs (yg ditumpuk di weekend krn weekdays kerja), kadang suka males juga kasih Giselle makan sendiri krn berantakan ke mana2.. ga cuma lantai, tangan, kepala, leher, tapi juga ke playmat, sofa bahan kain, mainan, play fence dll.. krn Giselle kan ga di highchair. Jd doi pas makan suka melipir ke mana2 pegang2 ini itu dgn tangan lengket
🍛Giselle kan jg bosenan, makan sendiri jg suka 5-10 mnt dah bosen, makanan dimaenin or dibuat suap2in ke mak bapake, or dituang2 ke piring lain or ke meja or lantai 😫
🍛Kadang dia makan 5 menit makanan dimasuk2in trus ke mulutnya. Abis penuh dia brenti makan, jalan2, main2, trus sewaktu2 makanan di mulutnya dilepeh at a random place krn dia ga bs kunyah 😂
🍛Mbak juga cuma pake mbak pulang hari cuci gosok sapu pel di pagi hari 2 jam. Jd all messy stuffs setelah Giselle makan sendiri brarti kita beresin sendiri, pel sendiri, dll (belom lagi digangguin kl lg ngepel) 😂
Jadi ya.. kesempatan Giselle belajar makan sendiri cuma weekend, cuma bentar, & itu pun ga selalu dikasih (tergantung housework lagi banyak ga & tergantung kekuatan iman mak bapake saat itu) 😂🤣
Dan skrg tau2 dia uda bisa makan sendiri (sebelomnya nyendok masih tumpah2), pdhl jarang belajar

Bolognese for dinner.... my son has the very finely honed skill of being able to eat all the pasta from bolognese while managing to avoid nearly all of the meat and vegetables. 👌🏻🤦🏼♀️
Mini meat loaves. Healthy protein bite. We eat a lot of vegetarian dishes but occasionally we all like a bit of a meat dish. This is a helpful freezer protein meal when you don’t have time to make a steak or chop for baby’s dinner. I’m sure a tofu version would be delicious too!.
1.5 pounds of ground meat of choice, three grated carrots, 2 crushed garlic cloves and 1/2 grated onion (both optional), 2 eggs, 1cup fine breadcrumbs (I mashed up Melba toast), spices of choice (I put cumin, chilli power and fennel seeds), 2 heaping Tablespoons of tomato paste, ketchup. .
Mix all together well. Drop and lightly pat down in ungreased mini muffin tins. Spread a drizzle of ketchup on top. Bake at 350 for 25 mins until internal tempt is 160. Let cool for five minutes then run a knife around all edges and let cool on a cooling rack with paper towel under it to gather drippings. .
Forgot to post this last night- Nathaniel loves his new @ezpzfun plate but continues to be super picky, which is why I gave him such tiny portions. True to form, he pretty much just picked at it. 😒 BBQ ribs, grilled asparagus, baby potatoes, salad. Oh well- we liked it. 🤷🏻♀️ #blw#toddlereats (or doesn’t) #ezpzfun
