We have been doing so much painting! The past few days have been dreary and it’s such a cozy rainy day activity. I tried some white crayon resistance painting with the kids’ names. I wrote their names for one picture and they drew for a few others! Also if I haven’t professed my love of metallic water colors, they are 😍😍😍. It’s hard to see in the next picture but all the paintings are actually shimmery gold, bronze, and silver liquid watercolors mixed with regular liquid water colors. The paintings end up with subtle shimmer that is so pretty!
Another milestone...1st Day of Pre-K! 😬 To mark the special occasion, we just had to try @colormadehappy marker watercolor idea! Thanks Sam! ❤️
Our washable markers were running out of ink, so the colors were not as vibrant, but beautiful nonetheless. 😍 We also decided to try this technique with our Do-A-Dot markers, but they didn’t have quite the same effect.
I can’t wait to try this again with our brand new set of markers!
Alright — I know I’m going to get ridiculed here ... but dare I say I’m a teensy bit excited for cooler temps!? 🍂🍁
I’m feeling like a big, sweaty baboon over here and all these hot days are making me want to hide inside in the AC. 🤰🏼#pregnancyprobs Not to mention, while I was pregnant with Brooks it was during the fall/winter months ... so I can’t wait for my wardrobe to DOUBLE once we hit fall!
So where are you at?! Are you excited for big chunky sweaters, boots, and hot teas? Or are you still on the summer high?! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 Tell me below!
Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.
Birdie and I have been taking a little break from our learning activities this summer while the boys have been tracked out of school. I decided this morning that it was time to start back up as she is definitely showing a sensitive period to letters of the alphabet right now.
I eased her back in with the letter W which she knows very well as it is the first letter of her name. She's also a big fan of crafts so I thought that would be an easy way to get back into our schooling mentality. (I guess it's no longer toddler school but preschool!?) Today we did a few simple crafts that took me no time at all to get together. So basically zero prep with items that I already had around the house. She filled in a block letter W with a glue stick and glitter, and then covered a letter W with W stickers.
Lastly, I cut a paper plate in half and we covered that in red and green glitter, and black construction paper to make a slice of (seeded) watermelon. 🍉
It was a fun and artistic review of the letter W.
I did a session about chameleon with the toddlers group too. Because they are toddlers and toddlers are easier to get distracted I usually designed 3 different activities every session so they don’t get bored easily!
The 1st activity usually I started off with some sensory play. I drew some chameleon on a transparent plastic sheet and hide it in the forest container. I try to explain how the chameleon camouflage. Oh ya...before I started the class, I played a little game with them. I place the chameleon around the room and asked them the chameleon camouflage themselves to what colour? After playing a few rounds and finally they got it and answered perfectly!
For example: when I place the chameleon on a blue table, what colour would the chameleon be?
The next activity, they made a forest scenery with the leafs and twig and glued the chameleon up on a piece of white art block.
Then we did some painting with pompom ball. The kids gets to paint as colourful as they wish onto the paper plate. The top paper plate I cutter out the shape of a chameleon and place it on top of the painted paper plate. The kids were overly joyed when they can to see the chameleon changes color when they turned the top piece of the paper plate. 😆
Last activity of the day. They did mosaic art with the chameleon picture.
All these was done in 45min! Phewwww.... #toddlerart#toddlerartclasscoventry#homeschool#playwhilelearning#kidsloveart#kidsloveit
I'm as lucky as can be because the world's best dad belongs to me.
Happy birthday, Daddy! ❤️
This year, Wyndon made a special card for his Daddy. And it's 98% made by him! 😍😍😍
Mommy only helped to smear the paint on his hand, and he made a birthday cake from his handprint 🎂
And he traced 'Happy Birthday Daddy' all by himself.
That 'DADDY' on the front page? He wrote it by himself!
And check out the drawing inside the card. Wyndon drew Daddy, Wyndon and Mommy 😍😍😍 and he even boxed them together 😍😍😍
Next I just gave him color pencils and told him he could draw whatever he wanted.
He drew a sun and some kind of aeroplane or submarine, because when Mommy asked what that is, he said "海” (sea)
The green lines might be the seaweed in the sea? 🧐
Last, he put some glitter with cotton bud around the cake.
Oh my! Don't you think it's the most beautiful card ever? 😍😍😍
I love you Daddy 😘
Thank you for being the best Dad ❤️ .
