My family tree. Haha. I mean my family under a tree. 😂✨#cheesy | This tree and the glorious light behind it was the first thing we saw when we pulled in late afternoon at @waldenretreats - an overwhelmingly sweet welcome for sure. ❤️☀️
Brooding but inviting at the same time. This is the Tom Hardy of sitting areas.
The Hotel Emma in San Antonio is, to borrow a friend’s perfect term, intoxicating. It is at once soft and severe, intentional but relaxed, inviting but standoffish - like someone you really want to impress.
The Hotel is named for the wife of Otto Koehler, who owned The Pearl Brewery in San Antonio. When Emma was in a car accident that required at-home care, another woman - also named Emma - was hired to look after her and soon took up an affair with Otto. Eventually, Otto took another mistress. Named Emma. No small wonder, the third Emma shot and killed Otto for which she reportedly showed no remorse. Amen to that.
After Otto’s death, his wife, Emma Koehler, took over the brewery and led it seamlessly through the prohibition era. .
At the hotel bar, there is a strong cocktail called The Three Emmas. The description includes a disclaimer about the effects of having one or two. But the third, the menu warns, will kill you.
Drove through Boerne this evening. It's a completely different town than the one I spent time in as a kid. But this building remains and is a picture perfect example of old Hill Country style. Mostly area stone, blue ceilings, and as much shade as you can gather. #TXHillCountry#BoerneTX#OldHouseLove#TMWanders

This is George Sugarman's sculpture titled "Crape Myrtle" in Wichita Falls,TX. It's in Harold Jones Park. I've grown up around it and always admired it and today stopped to get out of the car and interact with it. It's lovely! One of those things people maybe take for granted. It's colorful, sturdy, made of steel, provides seating, and shade. Thanks for making art, #georgesugarman
