Snorkelling in Koh Tao the past 4 days has been unbelievable! Here are a few clips of the amazing marine life we have been lucky enough to see... Video 1: A HUGE Green Turtle almost as big as me/mum
Video 2: A fish frenzy near our hotel
Video 3: A hugeee Titan Trigger fish (which I later found out attacks humans... oops😬) Video 4: Red Saddleback Clownfish
Video 5: The noise of Parrotfish actually munching on the coral reef
Video 6: NEMO’s
Video 7: A rare baby Mimic Octopus
We also saw a baby Blacktip Shark, but he was too quick to video in time☹️ #snorkelling#kohtao#fish#octopus#turtle#titantriggerfish#clownfish#nemo
If you ask divers, what fish they are scared of, the answer will not be sharks. In fact, we love sharks. (Well, most of us I presume.) But we will be extra careful if this fellow is near. Let me introduce to all of you, the titan triggerfish.
The Titan triggerfish (Balistoides viridescnes) is very aggressive especially when they are nesting. They will hit your hand, charge at you and hit your mask hard and in certain cases, they bite your fin. I’ve even heard some divers lost an ear due to triggerfish bites.
But that don’t mean that we should hate the titan triggerfish. Just be careful and don’t swim into their territory. In fact, I love looking at titan triggerfish feeding. They feed on corals, hence having huge teeth. When they eat, it seems so appetising. Like so berselera like that!
In this picture, we spotted a medium size titan triggerfish feeding. And yes they can get real big!
