My very first at home workout DVD was Tae Bo, back then I was working a crazy shift at work, hadn’t joined a gym yet and just wanted to try some badass kickboxing 👊🏻
..
It wasn’t long that I became bored with the workout and literally saw no results. So gave up!
..
Fast forward 15 yrs when I was presented with another at home workout that was only 25 mins. As I did some research on it found transformation pictures that looked amazing, but told myself...
..
“Yea right, like those are real, and shoot I won’t see those results!”
.
Until
.
I did!!
..
It took about 10 weeks, but with putting in the work by getting up a little bit earlier, scheduling my workouts, cutting out sweets and processed foods, and doubled up on workouts when I would I miss, found myself 18lbs lighter, my mommy midsection flattening {which I thought was impossible after a #csection }  a ridiculous increase in my energy, a strong sense of accomplishment, and feeling amazing both inside and out!!

That day I became a BELIEVER!!

What I learned then was that I had to put the work in to see results and it definitely helped not to do it alone 🙌🏻

Today I went back to my soul program my Team and I prepare for my Favorite Trainer’s newest program that is literally only 20 mins!! ..

How is it already December?! I feel like I say this every year, but this year seemed to fly by especially fast!  This is seriously my favorite time of year, but it can be so stressful sometimes with all the decorating, shopping, wrapping, baking and holiday events!  Sometimes we get so wrapped up in it all we forget what this season is truly about! .

A few years ago our family decided that we wanted to focus more on quality time together versus gifts.  Instead of stressing about what we’re going to buy each other and feeling the financial strain of purchasing so many gifts, we decided to instead have a family day.  We choose a day close to Christmas where my parents, siblings and all our kids spend the entire day playing games, watching movies, baking and of course eating!  We take time to relax, enjoy time together and make memories.  This has become a new tradition for us and one that I love so much! .

When I first started making my health a priority about a year and a half ago, I initially had a lot of negative comments. “Why are you working out? You don’t need to lose weight!” I was made to feel guilty and almost shamed for working on myself.  At first I let it bother me, but then I realized that those people were just as insecure with themselves as I was with myself.  Just because other peoples opinions of me didn’t align with what I felt about myself, didn’t make my feelings any less valid.  We are allowed to feel what we feel.  Here’s the thing- sometimes it’s the things that others can’t see on the outside, that need changing the most. .
.
We often see getting healthy as dropping the weight, toning up or hitting a goal number but  guess what the journey doesn’t end there.  I remember thinking if I could just lose 10 pounds, I’d be happy.  And sure I felt better and more confident when the scale went down, but I was still the same person on the inside.  I just found other things I didn’t like about myself and still wasn’t truly happy. .
.
If you don’t love yourself just as you are, flaws and all, you won’t love yourself when you get to your goal weight.  There’s no end destination.  This is a journey we choose to go on every single day.  It’s about taking the time to work on yourself and change your mindset.  It’s about overcoming years of telling yourself you aren’t good enough.  It’s being honest with yourself and sometimes facing things we’ve kept buried for a long time.  It may be harder than any cardio workout could ever be, but when you choose to show up every single day and make yourself a priority you will see your mindset starting to shift.  You will start to feel truly happy and that is a way better feeling than any number on the scale will ever give you. .

We are all just doing our best each day and trying to be better than we were the day before.  That’s what my accountability groups are all about! There’s still time to join our tribe of women!  We start next Monday!  Let me know if you’re ready to start your journey!

💡 Christmas lights and decorations!  There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in a dark room lit by the glow of Christmas tree lights!  I would leave my tree up year round if I could! .

🎄The traditions!  Our family has so many traditions I look forward to every year!  From driving around looking at Christmas lights to drinking hot apple cider and listening to Christmas music while we decorate the tree as a family! .

❤️ All the kindness and love!  It seems like everywhere you go people are just more friendly and kind!  The spirit of Christmas is magical! .

🎁 I love giving gifts!  It’s so fun to watch the joy and excitement others get when receiving them! .

❄️ Call me crazy but I love snow!  I love being stuck at home wrapped up in a blanket watching the snow fall and drinking coffee or hot apple cider! .

I dreaded getting out of bed, hitting snooze multiple times, crawling out at the very last minute without being super late. Only to wake with the replaying of the events from the day before in my mind. I would hope for something good to happen on this new day, but most times left with disappointment.

then I woke up!!! 💥

Taking care of myself with fitness (not just working out, but following a program that challenges me & learning how to feed my body with foods I deserve instead of punishing it with junk, was the first layer that unlocked my happiness!
..
After that, tapping into the community of other struggling mamas and building genuine friendships with women who were all about lifting each other up was the unlocking of the second layer!
..
The introduction to personal growth books, my Bible, podcasts, trainings on leadership and self love and loving of others was that last layer that unlocked my ability to conquer my depression and anxiety!!
..
This all came from 1st saying YES to myself and then saying YES to help others!!!
..
Starting my own Coaching business truly saved my relationships with others, my marriage, and my happiness!!

I know it’s not Thanksgiving yet but wanting to show gratitude for some amazing people in my life who have helped shape who I am today!!

Meet Coach Jimmy (@thecoachjimmy ) I had no idea how much my negative self talk played a roll in sabotaging my daily habits! Struggling to get out of bed to do my workout each morning was really not the way I wanted to start my morning. I wanted to wake up excited instead of feeling dreadful.

Coach Jimmy taught me the simple trick of plugging into positive vibes as soon as your alarm went off. I started keeping my headphones on my nightstand next to my phone so I could grab them and plug in before my feet hit the floor!!

I did this every morning for a year, listening to YouTube motivational speeches ranching from Les Brown, Eric Thomas, and Steve Jobs. It changed my life, not only in my personal life, but also with my business!! .

Today’s Transformation Tuesday... JUST ONE THING Edition. 
My friends all have had their lives greatly impacted by saying yes to a Weightloss/ health/ fitness challenge group and all would agree that ONE thing has been remarkably life changing.  Here are just a few snippets of what they say about that once a day superfood shake... 🔥 it increases my energy significantly. In addition it reduces inflammation. 🥰So simple to make and yummy too.
💊 I drink it because it has leveled out my thyroid issues, gut health and now I am seeing how it is keeping my peri-menopause issues manageable.
🥗 It gives me the nutrients that I wouldn’t ordinarily get with my food intake. When we were in Mexico and went a week without it my body felt lost.
💏My wife makes me 😂 but in all seriousness, it helped me get off cholesterol meds 🥼 I drink It because of the health benefits.  My over all health has improved greatly since I have been drinking it. And it's so yummy!
⚡️ I love It because it makes me feel great. Gives me energy all day, sustaines me from breakfast to lunch! Who doesn't love something easy and fantastic for yourself! 🐰 The energy I have now is awesome. No longer fall asleep when getting home from work.

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that during this time we are supposed to be thankful, we are also being flooded with so many advertisements for stuff?! I know it’s the holiday season which means gift giving, but sometimes I hate how much emphasis is placed on having things.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love gift giving and shopping as much as anybody, but sometimes the thought of it all completely overwhelms me.  Everywhere you turn there is SO MUCH STUFF!  Seems like we’re missing the whole point of being grateful.

A little over a year ago my husband made the decision to move back to our hometown.  His job allowed him to transfer to a new county and after almost 2 years of trying to sell our old house, we found ourselves moving with nowhere to live.  We wanted our next home to be our forever home and didn’t want to just buy a house that was available if it didn’t feel right.  So we ended up moving into a 2 bedroom apartment.  Five of us in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment.  Half of our things have been in storage for over a year now as we still haven’t found the right house.  You know what- we’re surviving!  We don’t even miss all that STUFF in storage!  Because it’s just that, STUFF! .

In a world of excess, where we are often made to feel less than if we don’t have all the expensive, trendy clothes and shoes or our kids don’t have all the newest electronics, it’s sometimes hard to not get caught up in feeling like we need all the things.  I’m guilty of constantly comparing myself to others and feeling like I’m not enough when I don’t have what they have.  I have to remind myself that that’s not what’s important.  Years from now people aren’t going to remember me for what I wore or the car I drove.  They’re going to remember what kind of person I was, how I made them feel. .

While I’m beyond ready to have a house again, it’s been refreshing to live with less.  Sometimes simple is better.  The smiling faces in this picture are truly all I need to be happy.  When it comes to being thankful, it’s about the people, the memories, the love shared, not the stuff.

I’ve spent a full week now tending to sick kids. I’ve wiped more noses than I can count and heard more whines than I thought possible. .
I love my boys with all my heart, but sick kids take it out of me. It’s just exhausting. I find myself frustrated at times and at the end of my rope.

Then last night Reed was in my bed yet again (Joey is out of town) coughing and congested, and I knew I wasn’t getting any sleep again. But here’s the thing: I looked at him in all my frustration and exhaustion and prayed, “Jesus, let me find You in this moment.”

Mamas who are feeling overwhelmed today, this one’s for us: Jesus is in the moments of exhaustion. He’s in the moments of overwhelm. He’s in the 2am wake ups, and the countless time outs. He’s in the cuddles, as well as the tantrums. These moments matter to Him. He sees us and calls these moments important. What you are doing today with these little ones is important. When you feel like all you do goes unnoticed, remember it doesn’t. He sees it all. For your children are His children first, and He loves how you care for them... even when you’re at the end of your rope. In fact, He probably loves those moments the best because then He gets to show you that He has more strength to give you than you could have even thought to ask for.

I KNOW I am not alone on this one.  I was struck by a convo in my Fall, Faith and Fitness group this AM.  We were discussing how to stay on track with our goals in social situations and someone stated she brings her own food if she knows what will be there is not what she eats. A sweet woman in the group stated when she’s done that she gets “looks and comments” from the guests (and this is at church functions, y’all!!). I think I’m so used to people knowing that it’s just who I am now that I might not eat what is being served so I don’t even think twice about looks or comments (but truth be told, lately I eating all the things 🤦🏻‍♀️, planning to reel that one in after Thanksgiving with my 3 Day Cleanse) but it just makes me think all the more of ALL the places we women conform to what everyone else is doing, how they’re being, how they’re talking, what they’re liking, what they’re beliefs are, just to belong. To fit in. To not feel like an outcast. To not be left out. .
Goodness, that is exhausting. No wonder so many of us are “Tired as a Mother”. .
I believe that until we can truly rest in the truth of the only one who REALLY accepts you, just as we are, and rest in the comfort of His love, we will still continue to be utterly exhausted ❤️

Fed the littles breakfast✔
Prepped lunch for the fam and shakeo for me✔
Arranged for my daughter to get to dance.. an hour late cause I forgot it was Saturday✔
Worked at the clothing store✔
Ran eons of errands✔
Made dinner for the fam✔
Defused more arguments than I care to count✔
Cleaned up the house✔
Started laundry✔
Completely cram packed day to say the least 😅😬 .
Thought I didn't have a minute to spare yet I did. As it turned out I had enough time to get in my 30 min sweat sesh 🙌🙌 and cuddle my babe 😍 before she went down for the night. .
I get that you are busy. I get that your life has demands. I get that you just don't have any spare time. I hear your reasons and I agree they are completely valid. I also know there is a way to make the time.  All it takes is 30 minutes.. 5% of your day to work on you and your goals. 5%!!! .

Since high school I knew I wanted to be a Police Officer, and until that happened in 99 I learned the importance of serving people in different ways!
.
So my first job was working as a snackbar girl at a bowling 🎳 alley. Though it wasn’t the coolest job, I did love being known for making the best grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches 🙋‍♀️ (yep that was me)! It was then that I got the taste of what it was like to serve people.
.
Several years later I set out to become a waitress, just because I wanted to, and like that I was hired by a family owned restaurant in #TrentonNJ I strives to make the best Tom Collins for one of my best customers, though I was already an expert at making Dewer’s and water 😉 (thanks to my dad).
.
Now as an officer for 18 years and more recently as a Health & Empowerment Coach, nothing fuels my heart than knowing I’ve equipped someone with knowledge to keep themselves or their family safe or that I helped someone find happiness in their life they didn’t know existed!!

Do you listen when your body tells you it needs to rest? 
We get so used to always being on the go, trying to get as much done as we can every day and push our bodies to the breaking point often.  This causes stress and other effects on the body that we often don't see or notice until they turn into bigger issues. Sometimes, our bodies just need to rest. 
I'm not telling you to use this as an excuse for just not wanting to workout, but if you are truly feeling drained, then taking the occasional rest will help your body to feel rejuvenated and rested so it can do all that you need it to.

For all of you who've known me or have been following my page for a while, I'm sure you can tell that I have a slight obsession with sleep 😴. I just find it so hard to function when I haven't slept properly (a bad trait to have in the world of motherhood but here we are) however I've also surprised myself with how well I have been able to function on such little sleep over the last 9 months since my daughter was born. The good news is that I know it's temporary. Even on those days where my eyes feel like they're involuntarily closing as I go through my day, I keep trying to remind myself that she will sleep through the night and so will I. My son didn't sleep well either but then when he started sleeping through the night, my world changed and I know the same will happen this time around too. So if you're in the trenches (aka some phase in which your baby isn't sleeping well), rest assured that your baby will sleep better and you'll have a restful night again. A night with no wake-ups, no interruptions, no crying from another room. You'll wake up refreshed after so many months of waking up exhausted and it'll feel amazing. And if you feel the need to do some gentle sleep training or hire a sleep coach, do what you have to do. A well-rested family is a happy one! Is your family life "BUSY"? I know ours certainly is......from #hockey arenas, to #gyms for basketball, #dance studios, #art studios and #fitness studios, we live life on the GO! 
After 2 whole months of not feeling my best and being kind of beaten down by pneumonia, I am SO happy to be back living my life on the go (yes I am building in ME time and I even meditated yesterday for a good 20 min!!) I am also super #grateful to have been able to #fuel my body with #superfoodnutrition that totally helps me keep my mind straight and my body pumping. 
As a mom, it also gives me so much confidence to know that my kids run out the door to school, practices, games and more with nutrients that allow their growing bodies to do all that they LOVE to do.

TRUTHFUL TUESDAY...

After becoming a mom, I stopped making my marriage a priority. I got caught up with everything involving loving our little guy that I forgot to show love to my big guy. I’ve learned that it’s not uncommon in marriages, that reassured me in some way, but it didn’t excuse it!

This year I decided I didn’t want life, marriage, our family to be that way. I pledged to make it a priority to show my hubby love and started scheduling weekly date nights over the summer, thanks to our sitter (aunt @katyd013_ )! It felt good to be intentional and opened up communication again. Since hubby went to night shift there’s been some adjusting and date nights got put on the back burner. 
Thankful Eric realized we needed some time and suggested one tonight! Aunt Kate was to the rescue again and we had a great night!! 💕

I’ve learned that it’s not uncommon in marriages, that reassured me in some way, but it didn’t excuse it! This year I decided I didn’t want life, marriage, our family to be that way. I pledged to make it a priority to show my hubby love and started scheduling weekly date nights over the summer, thanks to our sitter (aunt @katyd013_ )! It felt good to be intentional and opened up communication again. Since hubby went to night shift there’s been some adjusting and date nights got put on the back burner. Today I had shoulder surgery. They had major problems with getting me an IV (I lost count of how many sticks including trying my feet) so I ended up with one in my neck. My nerve block is still working n’ the brace I’m in for at least the next 4 wks is very uncomfortable. Doc had to repair a couple things, clean up my shoulder, he said my shoulder was very lose! So now I have some screws, cords, clips, to hopefully hold the joint in place. #edswarrior💪 #shouldersurgery #ivinneck #tiredmamas #inpain

Let me share a little story with you all! So daddy was away this weekend at a mens retreat. Last night after getting all the kiddos snuggled in their beds and I was getting myself ready to hit the sack💤💤.

And then...BOOM BOOM BOOM💣💥💣, I hear a series of gunshots, which sounded like they were right outside my door! Then came the sirens🚔🚔, then came the helicopter🚁🚁...

Needless to say, I could not fall asleep after that! So 11:30 comes around and I finally lay down to sleep...#babyjudah wakes up! And then proceeds to wake for the day at 3:30 am (thank you time change)

I totally get how that feels!! I’ve always been an athlete and started running in college. I stayed active, went to the gym and everything but never saw great results. It was if I maintained where I was at UNTIL I turned 30 😫 then it was all downhill.

My anxiety and depression worsen when I became engaged and anticipated the struggle I was about to face in order to feel pretty on my special day. I went as far to buying “diet pills” online, but as soon as I did I knew it was a scam and cancelled immediately!

Instead I started simple with counting calories and copying certain moves from P90X off YouTube, because there was no way I could do the whole workout 🤷‍♀️.

Within the 3 months leading up to my wedding, I was able to lose about 10lbs. I definitely felt good & like princess on my wedding day.

Looking back though, I still lacked the confidence and the self love I have today. That weight all came back when I got pregnant and never really left after having my little guy. I lacked motivated and postpartum lasted forever!

I love wearing Benjamin and do it constantly. He loves cuddling up with me, I love patting his butt and kissing his head.

0-6mo I loved my @sollybabywrap (so snuggly) and once Benjamin discovered the fun of flopping backwards out of the wrap we moved to a soft structured carrier (SSC), our @happybaby carrier.

We're taking a week long stroller-free vacation soon. I'll let you know how it goes!
