🔥REP TEMPO🔥 Mixing up rep tempo is a great way to create new stimulus. For example the tempo I have demonstrated in the video is 4111 which is 4 sec down, 1 sec at the bottom, 1 sec up and 1 sec at the top before starting the next rep. The eccentric phase is where the muscle is being lengthened under tension and is where all the gains are made, for the Squat it is the lowering phase and for the Lat Pull Down it’s the extending phase. Exercise: Chest Cable Crossovers

The Chest Cable Crossover exercise is an isolation exercise which activates the mid section of your pecs (chest). When it comes to the crossovers, many people end up doing it hoe I did in the first video. Although this is still correct and still engages our pec muscles, we can definitely do it better. -
The goal is to stretch and shorten the muscle in order to train the pectoralis  muscles optimally. -💥If you look at the first video, when I bring my arms together, I end up leaving a gap between my chest and arm. This means that the chest muscles aren’t being shortened as much as they can, giving them room to breathe basically. -💥On the right video, you see two things happening different. 1️⃣ my arms don’t just meet each other, they end up crossing each other and that makes me increase the range of motion and squeeze my pec muscles a lot more. 2️⃣ right when I begin to crossover my arms, I supinated my forearms (twist my hand where I see my palms). Doing this will make sure my chest are squeezed together as much as possible to increase the stimulus on the muscles being targeted. -
This is only shown for the middle Chest Cable crossovers, and the same would go if I was aiming for the upper/lower chest. -
💥If your focus is weight loss/toning, then do this at the end of your chest workout. -
💥If your goal is to gain muscle mass/hypertrophy, then do this at the beginning of your workout to get your chest at a pre-fatigue stage. -

One thing I’ve learned and am still working on, is you can’t let people get to you.

Today I was getting mad at something I should feel flattered from( I guess🤨). I still do not 100% understand why people do what they do but you can’t control that. 
I hear all the time that you shouldn’t let others words or actions get to you but it’s definitely harder said than done! 
I’m a person who likes to take charge, I like to learn, I like to lead, and I don’t follow the crowd. I will never keep up with fads, or buy something just cause everyone else has, start saying phrases because it’s cool, or even start doing something just because my friends are. 
So bottom of the story is, be your own person and NEVER let others depict what your life is going to be like. It shouldn’t matter what people say or do, shake it off and just keep living life! I’m going to try my best to start living by this more!😊

We all want strength gains; well I do anyways lol and I know a lot of men do. But sometimes you gotta put your ego to the side if you want to build muscle. TUT (time under tension) work plays a big role when you're going for hypertrophy, making muscles bigger. I dont even count reps when I work tut. Grab a LIGHTER weight (LIGHTER, NOT LIGHT. Dont go from 50lbs to 5lbs 🤦🏿‍♂️), control the the weight on each rep, set your stop watch for 1min plus, and LET IT BBBBBBUUUUUUURRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNN.. no usher 😭😭😭😭😭. And if it's easy, increase the weight a little. Also understand what muscles you're working and make a conscious effort to use and contract (squeeze) those muscles. The pump is crazy. Typically, I do this for my isolation work, but adding this technique to my functional movements, 👌🏿 lol. It's a fun challenge, and it also helps to prove you're actually strong. I mean yea, you have to be stong to lift 500 lbs, but to be able to control 500 lbs, that's real strength..

Not all reps are the same.

If you ask someone how many reps they perform, they will tell you how many they perform without thought to technique. Everyone tries to look better than others due to the greatest sin, 'JEALOUSY'. NOT ALL REPS ARE CREATED EQUAL.

If you tell someone you lift 100kg for 5 reps and they say, they lift 100kg for 7 reps, are they stronger?

More often than not, the answer is no. Don't believe everything you hear without all the details.

You may lift that 100kg for 5 reps with perfect technique, and that person may perform that same 100kg for 4 reps with perfect technique. Then the last 3 with the absolute worst technique, and over time cause more pain and injury than you could imagine.

It's best to perform less reps in correct form than more without. 
The person performing the most reps could also be rushing through those reps. For muscle growth, time under tension is better. With that in mind the 5 reps being slower and perfect form is better than 7 fast reps with shit technique, as the 5 reps might take 30 seconds to perform whilst the 7 reps might take 15 seconds.

TUT, time under tension break down.

Time under tension refers to the amount of time a muscle is placed under stress during a set, without break. 
If your goal is to add more lean tissue, consider favouring a tempo that maximises the full lowering, eccentric, phase of an exercise. 
The lifting phase of an exercise, the concentric, is far more energy demanding - requiring a greater use of Adenosine triphosphate - ATP. 
The lower the use of ATP, the more efficient the body will be at increasing lean tissue during recovery.

Taking a look at the leg curl, the use of a 3 second eccentric/lengthening of the hamstrings, following a 1-2 second concentric/shortening and 1 a second isometric hold/contraction - time under tension is optimally applied here for the goal in place.

TUT, time under tension break down. Time under tension refers to the amount of time a muscle is placed under stress during a set, without break. If your goal is to add more lean tissue, consider favouring a tempo that maximises the full lowering, eccentric, phase of an exercise. The lifting phase of an exercise, the concentric, is far more energy demanding - requiring a greater use of Adenosine triphosphate - ATP. The lower the use of ATP, the more efficient the body will be at increasing lean tissue during recovery. Taking a look at the leg curl, the use of a 3 second eccentric/lengthening of the hamstrings, following a 1-2 second concentric/shortening and 1 a second isometric hold/contraction - time under tension is optimally applied here for the goal in place. Okay let’s talk Squats! It’s taken my knees awhile to be able to do a good squat since surgery and I’m ecstatic!! One thing I think people need to keep in mind is that everyone is different. Not everyone’s squats are going to look like knee over heel. Some people are just aren’t wired like that. So my squat will not look like yours 100%! Other than that though, I had a fantastic and hard workout! Lots of plyometrics today! Want a challenge? Do 1 squat jump then a chin up leg lift repeated for a minute ☺️

How slow can you go? Slowing down your reps is an amazing way to give your strength training routine an instant and effective makeover.  To build strength, you must vary and progressively increase the demands on your muscles. Try slowing down, especially in the eccentric phase of the movement (the phase in which the muscle is lengthening, not shortening), to increase your time under tension. Feel like you’ve been doing bicep curls all your life but your arms aren’t growing or getting stronger? How do you think your technique is truthfully? ——————————————————————————— I’ve come to see that the majority of people do heavy bicep curls with the help of momentum/swing. What this can do is bring the shoulders into the equation which is not what you want to be doing. It’s called a bicep curl for a reason. ———————————————————————————- I often advise people to take a step back and use a lighter weight. Make sure you’re in control of the weight at all times. Keep your shoulders fixated in the same position, curl the weight all the way up to chest level with a squeeze for a second and slowly lower the weight all the way until your arms are fully extended. Train smart, try it out if you don’t already and let me know how you get on! 💪🏾

Starting with lunges first 10 going close second 10 getting that stretch on the lunge, super setting them with calf raises 10 with weight 10 with out alternating the feet, then into dB squats (heel elevated) either with plates or a piece of wood 😉 super set with reverse lunges, next is single leg step ups, into box squats narrow stance explode as you go up 👆.

It’s called Time Under Tension, Form is everything. Ego lifters, lighten the weight and Contract Every Repetition, You will grow muscle significantly faster! Also I’ve been doing Circuit training classes/High intensity training classes that uses my fast-twitch muscles to improve my muscular endurance, my cardiovascular system, and strength all at the same time! All I see is guys doing the same thing.. Anaerobic Exercises, Primarily (Weight Lifting). After, they do a light jog or quick walk everyday.. 45 minutes straight. You emphasize your slow twitch muscles mostly and your heart rate prob only goes up about 50% if that. You want to make some better results?? You want be lean and muscular...? Change it up, get that heart rate higher, confuse your body and get that blood flowing all throughout your body at the same time. 💯💪🏼 PS. So I decided to improvise and let the machines assist me with stability and balance while I focus purely on #muscleisolation . Exercise: Dumbbell chest fly with a supination game twist at the peak

The Dumbbell chest fly exercise is an isolation exercise which activates the mid section of your pecs (chest). When it comes to the DB chest fly, many people end up either getting injured in some way due to carrying too much of a weight, or horizontally abducting (extending) their arms too far out. -
Although, the goal is to stretch and shorten the muscle in order to train the pectoralis  muscles optimally, we want to do it where we could lessen the chances of injury. So by not fully abducting (extending) our arms, we lessen the chance of injuring our chest. -
Many would say, well then now I’m not feeling the burn as much or may be wasting my time since I feel like I am not performing the fly correctly. -
Solution: since we aren’t extending all the way, we compensate by supinating our forearms as we adduct (bring in) our arms. So as you see in the video, when the Dumbbells are coming back together, I end up twisting my forearms to where I have my palms facing towards me. Doing this, will end up compensating for not fully abducting (extending) and end up squeezing your chest muscles a lot more. -
All in all, I’m not saying that you should stop extending your arms out during the DB chest fly, but if you are going at a pretty heavy weight, it’s better you be safe than sorry and could possibly give this a try!

This is HEAVY!
I am eternally grateful to @hangar76inc for the endless patience in my journey. It’s only been 6 months since I started, and I’m already all kinds of excited to see what is going to happen to my strength 6 months from now. I’m down 40 lbs. That in itself is magic.
If you ever questioned why anyone would need a personal trainer, it’s because if you want results and you want them fast, that outside force encouraging you and sometimes telling you things you don’t want to hear, is the key to getting where you want to go. He knows how to help me when I am not clear on how to help myself.
You don’t need to commit to a trainer for life, but certainly 6 weeks would get you way further ahead than you would be without one. 
This is a service with some serious value!

I find it a lot easier to get a good workout in and stay motivated with early workouts rather then late ones!
