Etta I love you. My first proper dress, not made from a pair of curtains and I’m still in utter shock that it’s stayed together. Just the frock to kick off quite a week of celebrations.
Thanks to the incredible instructions from @tillybuttons book ‘Love at First stitch’ to taking me from hopeless ‘couldn’t sew a button on straight’ to a pencil dress fit for a party I can now call myself a ‘confident beginner’ 😳
Pattern: Etta, capped sleeves and collar @tillybuttons
Fabric: Coral Stretch cotton from @sewoverit
The TATB Miette wrap skirt for my daughter in chambray with a cherry print purchased from the Great British Sewing Bee Live. Easy make and that’s why I sewed all the panels up wrong to start with and put the waist belt hole on the wrong side. Note to self: just because it says for beginners does not mean you can skim read the instructions! #tillymiette#tillyandthebuttons#wrapskirt
Thanks for all the love for my Seren dress, so glad you guys like it as much as I do! Here’s a better shot of my 🌈 snaps.
I’ve had loads of questions about these snaps so I’ll try and give as much info about them for you. They are plastic Kam snaps, typically used for babies clothes, bibs etc (which is what I bought them for!). I bought a complete kit off Amazon (just search for Kam snaps) for £15 - you can see my kit in a previous photo in my feed. They are REALLY secure, in fact, you have to be quite careful unsnapping them because they are so tight and pull on the fabric. Super easy to install (100 times easier than buttonholes 😂), but you have to be totally sure where you want to put your snap as you make a hole in your fabric and snaps can’t be re-used (you’d have to just use a new one). You can see I didn’t position my waistband snaps perfectly and the fabric is a little twisted 😫
Any other questions just ask!! I’ll try my best to answer.

I'm grading up my @tillybuttons #serendress in preparation to cut and sew. I use IKEA kids paper and trace out the piece I need to grade. I figure out how many "sizes" I need to increase the pattern by. I figure this out by figuring out the difference e.g size 7:42/36/45 size 8: 44/38/47 so 2" extra for every size. So I needed to go up a few sizes. Once you know how many
Measure the size difference between the sizes on the pattern, it was 1/2 an inch. Add on half an inch for every "size" needed and grade up. So I eventually added 2".
Those are lovely pj bottoms! Glad you got the energy to sew them!
Regrann from @sewthisisme - Finished sewing a pair of @tillybuttons Margot pyjama bottoms from Love at First Stitch today - it’s taken me a few weeks but after not having the energy to sew for a couple of years I’m so pleased to have completed a garment! 😆 The fabric is a really pretty Cotton Lawn that I got on @ebay_uk a few years ago and unintentionally matches my ironing board and iron perfectly 😂 (swipe to see). I’ve still got quite a bit of the fabric left, which might make a nice nightie maybe... 🤔 My next project I’ve got lined up now though is a @tillybuttons Miette skirt 😊

I did a toile ! Marigold jumpsuit made using a bedsheet. I took in the back, removed the waistband completely (I must have misread the instructions as no one else’s jumpsuit looked as weird as mine originally did. I’ve also added two darts to draw it in at the waist. And made it as shorts. It looks very rompersuitesque. Will now have a go with nice fabric! #marigoldjumpsuit#tillyandthebuttons#jumpsuitsewing#summersewing
I’m posting another photo of me wearing my @tillybuttons #sewingseren dress because a) I love it; b) there is a yellow front door it in; but most importantly c) these two photos side by side make it look like I’m having a chat with myself and that is comedy I can’t deny the world 🌍 💛🤗
