As today is , we would like to give some attention to this iconic long-necked African animal. 🦒
Giraffes, like elephants are landscape species and are endangered. According to @giraffe_conservation there are only around 97,500 (March 2018) giraffes left in the wild, and their numbers have dropped around 40% in the last 30 years. Giraffes face many of the same threats as elephants: habitat loss/destruction from growing cities and towns, hunting for bushmeat, poaching for the international trade in giraffe bone carvings and skin and, sadly, trophy hunting.
In 2016 Giraffe were up-listed to ‘Vulnerable’ on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
It would be terrible loss to our planet if this species were to go extinct.
Spread the world! 🦒

Roelandi hasn’t been in South Africa since our move to Sweden (more than ten months ago) and I haven’t been since November (six months ago). This next few weeks are well deserved and much needed.
See you in August Sverige 🇸🇪 Hello South Africa 🇿🇦 #dehanditravel
Thank you for visiting. 🙏🏼🐘 @doutzen @elephantcrisisfund @wildlifeplanet @wildaid @wildlifedirect

A shot we took during a hike within the #Drakensberg 🌿! The one thing traveling has made us realize, is just HOW MUCH #SouthAfrica has to offer ✨. The word “diverse” is pretty overused here, but this country really has every type of scenic beauty imaginable. Although it can get frustrating (as travel lovers) to live in a “long haul” country (aka. at the end of the earth and far/ expensive from other top destinations), SA really makes up for it in offering atleast 20 countries worth of sites (literally not exaggerating considering it’s probably the size of half of European 😋).
We could not be luckier as #travelbloggers to live where we do!!
Moment of sudden appreciate voiced, now I can go to bed feeling all positive about life☺️👌🏼. Mooi
