Had a productive mission exploring the Hurd Pond area. I found an old dump in the woods and it turned up a bit of treasure that is obviously pretty old—I need to head back in and look at it a bit more closely.👍🛩
My mother’s one request was that I make a blueberry pie ||
unfortunately she’d gotten rid of the food processor and didn’t have flour, so this is a slightly modified version of the free form tart from @cooksillustrated - hand-made crust using @mainegrains whole wheat flour, blueberries from Intervale Farm up by Cherryfield, and simple vanilla ice cream from @stonefoxfarmcreamery ||
It’s been quite a while since I made a crust completely by hand, and I’m so damn happy I did.
Stopped for my favorite lobster roll while up in Maine this past week! Even the sign agrees with me.. but seriously, so fresh & sweet, you don’t need butter and the perfect portion size! I take mine warm with a toasted bun, while others seemed to love the meat cold or mixed with mayo (the Rhody way) .
Grab a roll and sit on the rocks, taking in the sights & sounds of the bustling cove. You’ll see the boats coming in with fresh lobster and the historic footbridge open for the sailboats to pass through. After lunch check out the cute shops in the cove or start the mile walk down Marginal Way to Ogunquit Beach! @footbridgelobster
Join in the #afseffect by hosting an AFS exchange student this fall. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner! Most students arrive September 12, hosting applications should be completed ASAP #maine#thewaylifeshouldbe
Visibility has been low this week, with humidity between 80-100% most days... the fog horn has been a constant background sound, and I don’t hate it. Could do without the humidity for a bit though. #mainetheway#MTWsummer
