Pruning the grapevines and enjoying the view. 😊
Each day, we are learning more about rural life in Les Cevennes and it's wonderful! We were asked to present ourselves to the mairie (mayor's office) to have our water switched on and the meter readings are kept in a ledger for each house in the village.
Our host, Sara has helped us lots with phone calls and hopefully we will have a post box in place soon.
We've bought gas for the cooker and it works, the electric is on and we meet more neighbours each day who come along for a chat and to meet these crazy English people who have bought La Petite Maison...such a friendly place and we are so looking forward to getting to know everyone - it's wonderful! ❤️😊🇫🇷
Last night we stayed at a vineyard in Burgundy.
A typical rural manor of the area, but not vegan friendly! Luckily, we always stock up at Biocoops and supermarkets before arriving, so we can enjoy our own feast! We met the head wine maker, a very friendly guy who talked to us about the impact of "Gilet Jaune". The rising national movement protesting about fuel tax and austerity...we have passed many of these groups so far and they show no sign of giving up.
The photos show the reading room in the hotel, the corridor and the church from our bedroom.
