Ive decided to switch things up a bit in my workouts. 3x/week I’m focusing strictly on Movement and Strength, with the majority of my focus on barbell exercises: bench press, squats, and deads. 🤨

I’m challenging my body AND mind in ways I’ve never EVER done before. And I kinda like it.
I’m leaving my ego at the door and focusing on form first 💯And while I have a ways to go...I’m still doing it #ThereIsNoTryOnlyDo .
And keeping true to my Keto lifestyle, I find my shape changing quite quickly.😬

If there’s one personality trait I could pass on to my daughter it would be my ability to watch a professional do a 5 minute video on YouTube and think to myself “I can totally do that!”. Me 50 minutes later: “Close enough!” 😅
There are some days, weeks, months, years in our lives that may seem like everything you do you come up to some friction; which can be frustrating because you are trying to be calm and just flow with what comes. Whether it is your mind, your body, or something outside of you there is resistance...This is actually a gift, I know what?! This creates an opportunity for you to observe what it is, not trying to solve the why, but notice what you notice. Today, there was much resistance to the idea of practicing at all and little energy, but I managed to do some yin and relax enough to muster up some energy to do my backbends. Don’t “TRY” stuff. Just “DO” stuff.
So often when people try something new, and it's challenging, they say to themselves or others- "this is harder than I thought." And frequently then resort to quitting quickly to prevent "actual failure" (saying "it wasn't what I thought") or quitting slowly so that they can still claim "I tried." Well, you can lie to me bro.... but if you keep lying to yourself, life's going to be hard!
What if- rather than cowhering when our initial expectations aren't accurate- for whatever reason- we say "I'm going to have to learn more than I thought... " or "this is going to take more effort than I imagined..." FOLLOWED BY "I'm up for the challenge!"
So often, we back away when things get challenging. And once we've established that habit... not only does it continue... but we just stop doing new things alltogether- for fear of failure.
Don't be the person that starts all sorts of stuff... but finishes nothing because you couldn't hurdle some obstacles and be persistent. Get up when you get knocked down. Re-calibrate. Grow faster. Fail forward. Don't duck when you get some curve balls. Swing the bat. Work harder. DO shit... and then see it through.
Living in a truck camper, my writing spot isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes I sit at the dinette, but today, I wrote at my “standing desk” - better known as the bed platform that goes over the truck cab. 🙈💻📁 But hey! I always seem to find my flow here. Word count: 4245. What’s your total for today?
Every now and then I struggle with negative self talk, and internal dialogue.
"I can't do it".
"I'm not good enough/strong enough/smart enough".
"What if I fail?"
"What if they laugh at me?"
I have to remind myself that my thoughts shape my actions, my behavior. Most of the time if we don't think we can do something, then we won't even try. But you'll never know unless you take that first step, and try.

I never expected in a million years that I would be a “surfer”. I was challenged physically and mentally as I was here at this #surf and yoga #retreat with @endlesssummerfiji I was challenged to just go for it. To #breathe . To keep going even when my arms were giving out. To jump up on the board to catch and ride a #wave even when I had no more strength in the core. I am bitten all over by what I hope are just mosquito bites, my legs are all scratched up by the reef from plummeting from the board into the ocean over and over again. And I am so #happy for it. Cuz while doing all that I made amazing friends, I saw a shark stroll right under my board, dolphins frolicked over the swell as the moon and the sun shared the sky with a rainbow. The things my eyes and heart have seen will never be forgotten. I think this experience can be a metaphor for #life . Buckle up, this is long.
TL;DR: 2RM snatch at 43kg - after five fails.
Snatch doubles rep max day. Camera crashed while recording a 42kg make. Which meant one thing. Try for 43kg.
I nailed the first rep and got under the second rep, before collapsing under it…did this five times. FIVE.
First video is the best technical snatch I’ve ever done. At 43kg no less. I cropped the second rep out because I failed it so splendidly, and hardcore lost my mind.
Second video was the sixth attempt, which was finally, at last, successful. 💪🏻
Not claiming these reps are anything impressive. But I did it, with a little help from my friends. #babysfirstammonia

Do you live in “after”? I’ll do it after this weekend...after this vacation...after things calm down at work...after the holidays...after...after...after... 🍅🌻🍎Autumn Harvest #1 - when I tell you that our garden is the bomb, that’s the truth! I dropped down on it today to harvest all 5 of my tomato plants, yielding about 30 lbs in one ☝🏾 drop. <> the apples are so good too, and look at that purple cauliflower! Wow, there are probably about 40 more species of edibles in our garden right now. Big love and thanks to my housemates for building such fertile soil and tending this gorgeous garden, for years now, and while I was away on my trip. ❤️💛💚Now, for the tomato processing! Onward! I like to slice, toss with extra virgin olive oil, a sprinkle of smoked salt, and dehydrate my tomatoes for dry storage in jars. Dried tomatoes render such a deep umami flavor, and save me from the heat of canning under the autumnal sun. There a little like vegan bacon. What do you do to preserve your tomatoes? 🍅🍅🍅
